Searchers in the Canadian Arctic this summer will try again to find the lost vessels HMS Erebus and HMS Terror, shown in an illustration from the Illustrated London News published on May 24, 1845.

According to Inuit testimony, recorded by search parties after the ships were beset in ice in 1846 and deserted by their crews off King William Island two years later, one ship sank in deep water somewhere west of the island.

I stumple upon this article and found it quite interesting (I know its a few weeks old but I did a search and nothing came up).

Even if there might not be a whole lot left of the ships, it would still be a great historical find. I wonder what they will find if/when they find the ships?!
