As I could gather from my brief research, Tom is running for the senate in the state of Pennsylvania.

Now, I do not know which moral and ethical stands does the voters there represent in majority, but as you may all know, not a single statement that is coming from the mouths of a political candidate is a coincidence.

Given the fact that he is running, his team has probably calculated that saying such a thing would get him a certain number of votes. No matter what his real stands on abortion may be, he will go with the statement for which they have calculated to contribute a share of votes in Pennsylvania for him.

If he would run for senate in California, I am positive no candidate would ever dare to state that kind of a believe.

My conclusion is that discussing this kind of stupidity should not be centered on the candidate himself but rather on the people which this statement was intended for.

wow, never expected this topic to take off like this. Figured it would get a few replies and that's it. Just shows how big an issue Rape and the GOP attitude towards it is.

I see no reason why a woman, especially a young or underage girl, should not have the choice of ending any pregnancy that results from being raped. The mental anguish that would result from having to bear an abomination from such a heinous act would have to be too much for most - ESPECIALLY FOR MINORS.
