EPA Levies $40,000+ Fines on Landlords Who Fail to Provide ‘EPA-Approved’ Pamphlets to Tenants
(CNSNews.com) – “Thinking of renting or selling a home or apartment?” asks the Environmental Protection Agency. “Make sure you disclose its
lead-based paint history. Mr. Wolfe Landau did not and it cost him a $20,000 fine.”

The pamphlet offers tips to “protect your family,” such as keep play areas clean, keep children from chewing window sills or other painted
surfaces, and clean up paint chips immediately.
Wow, those are some outrageous fines, especially since no percentage of the fines are going back to the renters or buyers; all of it is going to the
EPA. I can see a couple hundred dollars in fines, or so, but these fines are a little high.
