PM security scare due to unguarded door

news.ninemsn.com.au

Ms Gillard was speaking to reporters in a room just across the hall from her office when the man walked in, leaned past Immigration Minister Chris Bowen and dropped a document in front of her.

Asked a short time later what the document was, a puzzled Ms Gillard said: "I wish I could help you, but I've got no idea.

"Something a young man wanted me to have but it's not apparent to me what the topic of it is, even from its title."

Department of Parliamentary Services Secretary Carol Mills later confirmed the man had evaded security.

CCTV footage shows he entered the building through the main entrance but then walked unchallenged through an accidentally unstaffed security door on the first floor.

He then wandered through the halls before apparently chancing upon the press conference.

Ms Mills blamed a "misunderstanding" for the failure to have a guard posted to the door.

The department has launched a probe to make sure such a breach never happens again.

Television cameras captured the man being escorted from the building by a security guard.

"I've been trying to contact the police but haven't received any response," the man said.

He said he had also contacted ASIO and written to MPs about "foreign intelligence threats".

Asked what he was concerned about, he said, "Threats to my life and also my child was abducted."

Ms Gillard said she did not feel threatened by the incident.

The matter has been referred to the Australian Federal Police.

Looks like this could develop into a rather interesting story. I wonder if its true what sort of international heat he has on him ?

Going to have a little dig and see what I can find out.

Wow, that just about sums up the seriousness of our government. Imagine if that had been the whitehouse? I do not think that the boy would have made it too far in. Having said that, I do wonder what was written on the paper, and it could have been something very interesting or relevant, as Julia Gillard is often puzzled by important topics put before her.

I would love to see the document she was handed.

Otherwise, it could be anything from a drawing of a monkey to a top secret government document, no point in speculating if you ask me.

Curious how she says "not even the title gave her anything", yet the title is not disclosed :S.

Namaste.

Wow , now that's what you call a security breach

An unknown man just walks into the building and gets close enough to your PM to hand her something and security escort him to the door
..... Incredible .

Are you joking?
This security hangup is all the PTBs doing, it seems to me....What are these goverment figures so frightened of when it comes to facing the public?
The socio/political relationship(that between the governors, and the govered) has dissapeared almost totally ......from the close and warm, regard that used to exist....to this walled and fenced off, security compound, siege mentality...........where an unassailable barrier is placed between the people and the politicians......
Hmmmm lets see.....somebody needed to get his grievance directly to the top so he wrote it up, and delivered it personally......not such a big deal really, yet by the sound of it he handed her a live grenade.....
"Security" has slowly become a major God in the pantheon of the rich and powerful.....
Till weve reached the point where after a certain level of entitlement, one is provided with guards whos profession is cutting off any contact you may have with the ordinary people directly.
And oddly enough they get to make the people who they guard themselves against, pay for the bulk of the expense.....
This leaves little doubt in my mind that we are ruled by a class of society which is but a small minoirty of the people.
Will the facts behind this tantalizing event be revealed?Stay tuned..........................

What amazes me, is that he was just escorted out the door.
In the US, he would still be in custody, the news would be blaring about a possible terrorist attack and the guy wouldn't see the light of day for a long time.
When they are scared of us, it's a sign they have something to hide.

Hey guys nobody is interested in what this man said?

"Threats to my life and also my child was abducted."

He said he had also contacted ASIO and written to MPs about "foreign intelligence threats".

"I've been trying to contact the police but haven't received any response,"

If he did say these things then it was obviously omitted in the video from the link and the news anchor very conveniently labeled him a "protester" and then spins the story to "what if he had a gun" and the security breach and the potential threats involved. What if this man felt this was the only way he could get some help or bring light to his potential legitimate cause?

On the other hand it could of been a security contractor probing the security, like that ex u.s. army guy (I forget his name but he is pretty well known) contracted by the government to infiltrate and probe bases, government facilities etc. Apparently he was so good they discontinued his services and drove him underground because the security he was assigned to breach was too embarrassed.

What has happened is that the man who breached the security has been threatened with his life from ASIO and also his child. He has complained to the government and they have not responded to him as too why the secret service are making these threats against him. He mentioned something about terrorism but he didn't mention to much more. What was in the papers he gave her who knows, but it seems this guy is trying to work out why he is being labelled a terrorist and have his life threatened.

That is what makes this a bit more Ironic. The Secret service have been watching him or along the lines yet he can walk into parliament, straight up to the prime minister without being spotted... It was the same when he walked out.. The Security told hi to wait in the foyer and all he said was, I haven't been charged and walked straight out
The guys got balls anyway.
