The media is the biggest influence, and the influx of videos on MTV has influenced what is considered cool. Most music videos by female artists who are popular go to great lengths to promote sexiness , and girls seem to think this is how you must dress to be admired.

What are you talking about? My daughter having a friend over? You arent making any sense.

Media, music industry, Brittany spears, nicki Minaj. Just to name a few.. I would def blame the Parents for letting their child degrade themselves. Just my opinion. I know if I have a daughter ( thank goodness I had a son) she will always have her skin covered but that's because of my values, not because I follow some media saying it's the new "trend"

Women do not choose a specific dress to please others. It is what feels good when they put it on. Mode of dress and restrictions came from religions whose time is ending I hope.

Because sex sells clothes, magazines, tv shows, movies etc. The western world is run by the lust for wealth, power and sex, and the more of them you have, the more you want.

I don't think it's about freedom
who in their right mind would want to put on a miniskirt and high heels?
you can't sit comfortably and every step is a balancing act
if it wasn't for peer pressure and the media everyone would just wear pajamas all the time
the problem is that girls will say they "want" to wear those clothes
but in reality they "want" it because they have been told they have to by the media

for prepubescent girls I think true freedom would be to dress like tomboys
that way they are comfortable and can run and play around like kids should
yet they can't because their friends will make fun of them

so in reality its not that they want to dress like sluts, what they want is to be accepted
In this case, the media and peers are dictating what they should wear
I don't see freedom there

18+ year olds are free to dress however they want, and men are free to call them however they want

Im thinking many of the people here would love burkas here covering up our women by the sounds of it.

In the end, i couldnt care less how people dress. The europeans have a much better attitude towards this kind of thing. Hell, in the Netherlands, saunas are co-ed. It doesnt throw anyone into a tizzy to see young girls in there, because they are not sexually repressed like all those in here expressing their displeasure at the way some women dress.

Men can walk around without a shirt all day and its fine, woman try it and they get arrested. Breasts are mammary glands used to feed children, simply because they are sexualized in peoples minds doesnt mean they should be covered up at all costs. I laugh at the people who let their children watch all types of acts of violence on TV, yet the minute something sexual happens, they hurry the children away.
