My local news channel (News Channel 8 NBC) ran a story regarding "what if" a major hurricane were to make landfall in the Tampa Bay area during the Republican National Convention and any proposed contingency plans made. There will be oodles of people in the Tampa Bay area during the Republican National Convention, everyone from delegates and their staff, supporters, protesters, lookieloos, etc. so an evacuation would be unprecedented to say the least if this scenario were to play out. In the report they were not given specifics regarding any contingency plan regarding this scenario. They reported that there would be approximately 331 buses if they had to evacuate delegates and staff. I would presume the rest would be on their own.
(Republican National Convention In Tampa Could Be Threatened By Hurricane, GOP Worries...) *stupid link didn't post right* Really? REALLY? Do they put that crap out there as a warning? Is this how they stop the Momentum? I can see it now..."Hurricane Destroys the RNC, all records lost, Romney wins Nomination due to bound delegate count previously entered into Record..." Do I need a time out?
Aug. 22, 2012 - Tropical storm Isaac could become a hurricane and forecasters say it might affect the Republican convention in Tampa, Fla.

The theme of the Republican Convention is .... 'we built this' ...
(obvious slam at Obama for saying people didn't build what they actually built).
I think it'll be a PR nighmare for the republicans .. and a field day for the democrats ... if hurricane Isaac hits the convention ... creating a mess ... a place in shambles and without electricity ... and all the republican signs saying 'we built this'.

The RNC was foolish to schedule a convention in a coastal FL city during the literal peak of hurricane season.
