Wish I could help you, but I use Android.

This link may help get you started:

www.imore.com...

Have fun!

Also, another link:

forum.iphone-developers.com...

Looks like a sister site for XDA, a well known resource for rooting Android phones.

Damn. I resisted smart phones all the way.

I had the thing rooted within 30 minutes of bringing it home.

Couldn't resist!

That first week was hard. I had to get a new phone. I got pissed on my old one and chucked it full force across the room. LG Voyager was an alright phone =P.

But once i got her rooted, have had it at 1.5Ghz since then ;D
Also all the other fun stuff you can do with root. I have CyanogenMod 7 on mine.. Haven't upgraded lately though
, if it works dont fix it

Hehehe. I had a half smart, half stupid phone.

Had a decent screen, but touch input was so bad as to be unusable. CYA!

I rooted, but left the stock ROM on there.

I really just wanted to de-bloat, and use certain apps that required root access.

Pretty damn happy with this phone!

ahh!
when you run it the 1st time

it extracts to a folder

locate the .exe in there and it should show up [the compatibility]

vista?
vista is actually an incomplete [or beta] of win 7 btw
upgrading should not be a problem if you look in the right places

currently running Windows 8 CP

edit
umm now i'm a bit confused
if your vista is legit make sure you've got all your service packs installed
update

using compatibility-mode in vista
www.vistax64.com...

also you're going to set the compatibility to XP SP2 [vista] or XP SP3 [win 7]

baseband

thats only a concern if you want to unlock the phone for any carrier
Sn0wbreeze creates a modified version of the OS firmware that does not update the modem firmware

dino has tons of videos on tweaks, themes and apps

ohh seems you need a proxy
from the description of the vid you posted www.youtube.com...
[always check 'em as there may be additional instructions and download links]

Published on Jul 4, 2012 by DinoZambas2

PLEASE READ
This is a video response to a message i'm frequently sent How do you install Siri on iOS 5.1.1

Your device will need to be Jailbroken on iOS 5.1.1 if you are not yet Jailbroken please follow this simple video then come back: youtu.be...

#1 Open up Cydia select Manage/Sources/Edit then add this source into the URL
cydia.bassamkassem.com...

For iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod Touch 4 & 3 Users Download:[Ac!D]Siri
For iPad 1 & 2 Users Download: [Ac!D]iPad & Siri GUI Files For iPad

If you don't have a Proxy to activate Siri; Download AssistantServer Installer Via Cydia only $0.99 100% access to Google's API Follow the video to set up.

IMPORTANT If you use pirated apps/installous it will crash Ac!d Siri (I don't support pirated apps sorry)

all cydia apps have a sort of time bomb to prevent piracy, avoid them like the plague, cracked cydia apps that is

you should create an appleid and download free apps them via itunes or over wifi

here are a few other usefull sites

Dev-Team Blog [redsn0w] blog.iphone-dev.org...

iClarified www.iclarified.com...

the BigBoss-iPhone News, Help and Guides thebigboss.org...

i-FunBox | File Manager, Browser, Explorer, Transfer Tool for iPhone www.i-funbox.com...

if you want to make your phone look like android, download Dreamboard; its free from Cydia

while i've been jailbreaking since the second iphone came out i've never owned one
being an invisibilist for the past 10 years and going galt for the last 4 isnt easy
but at least i dont have to put up with bosses of any kind

sigh last april, my "best" iphone customer [20-30 phones a week]
decided that the money he was making selling phones wasn't enough
so he started stealing tax returns from peoples mailboxes...
he was at it for less than 2 weeks before he got ambushed by a group of very pissed off folks
and got his face blown off [thats the latest "fashion"/fad here in PR, btw]

douche died owing me money too
pity he didnt get himself killed after leaving me an iphone4 or 3 or 4 of them

oh well

think of that iphone as a portable computer like in a sci fi story
you can even use the teamviewer app [there are better ones that include sound]
and operate your pc/mac via the touch screen

you can play videos on the phone and watch them on a big plasma/LCD TV
via cable adaptor or wifi

steve jobs once claimed he was against jailbreaking because a hacker could use it
to access cellphone towers and get up to mischeif

look into bluejacking [its a way to make free calls, among other things]
