I haven't heard of anyone getting a virus in a long, long time (except mac users right now). I'm surprised that people still get them in this day
in age. I suggest that you install firefox or chrome and start using it and using browser plugins that will protect you from vulnerabilities and warn
you of malicious websites that others have found. Use your computer in a normal user mode so programs cannot install themselves on your laptop
without confirmation with a password and learn how to use the advanced settings in task manager to view -everything- that is running. This goes beyond
the initial tabs that you see there.
Never pay for software like that, there are always free, reliable antivirus applications if you really want one on your computer and don't waste your
money on Norton, McAfee or AVG as they have all become utter crap and a huge waste of money. Often times your ISP might provide free protection from
one of those companies. I believe both Comcast and AT&T does this.
Oh, and stay off the dirty sites
