The head barely moves its spacial position.
Animals are awesome.

It is a bit comical to watch. I first saw that in the movie "Thirteen" years ago.
Apparently this is very common. I have chickens but have never tried this myself....I just never really felt "the need" to but I have had a few friends show me this "trick" with their chickens in the past (mostly when they were intoxicated)

Noticed the "owl version" above as well.
What interests me at the moment is finding out why this is "normal"....why the head would stay so stiff like it does.
Think I will go digging a bit just because I need an hour or so away from all the more "important" stuff....

you think cats or wolves or jackels are the most vicious species on the planet .... now meet the Owl or any other bird.... ok maybe humans excepted they are the greatest preditators on the planet.,

top of the food chain baby. thats how we got here, lucky for us the bigger birds are extinct.




edit to add an odd fact about chickens or other domesticated birds. if you draw a line on a table and put the birds beak down to it it will follow the line to the end....

I used to raise birds at one time I had over 100 pairs of sparrows. they are brutal even to their own young.

Thanks for the a.m chuckles lol . Animals do some silly things :p but we humans do sillier to exploit them and get a cheap laugh ,, hehe the joys of being top of the food chain , has some perks lol.

I always wonder what the animals are thinking when we are playing with them for our amusement. What thoughts go in their heads , about what is happening , and why they are being used as a toy lol

Because they find this humorous you assume they are high? I'm straight as an arrow right now but that was funny as hell... that way the chicken keeps its head straight is insane... the owl is awesome too. That's classic stuff and I don't see why you need to be making such comments.

By the way, if you didn't know, I think you can observe something vaguely similar in yourselves. Look at a mirror and focus on your irises, rotate your head (from shoulder to shoulder). Your irises stay at their original angle (until a certain point). Nothing special really, just find it amusing...
