You may be misinterpreting things said by some Aussies (That's pronounced Ozzies) as we have a wicked sense of humour that disregards all sensitivities and political correct thinking. We even laugh at ourselves.

Along with many other Aussies, I don't Hate America. I do intensely dislike the whole BS about America being the best at everything, the first at everything ever invented, etc. That attitude is indoctrinated into you from a young age.

I do intensely dislike the Youth Culture that's been coming out of America for so bloody long now. The whole gansta/Rap/Image/brainless Celebrity BS gets under my skin, and then it annoys me more when hearing Aussie kids speaking like Americans, spelling like Americans, dressing like American rappers and thinking that how American kids are portrayed on Youth TV is how Aussie kids should have things.

But, I do not Hate any American person. For you are all human beings just like me, the only historical difference has been our culture, which sadly has died in favour of adopting American culture these past 30 or 40 years.

I'm not too sure why this is in the prophercies forums, but hey i'll bite.

I'll take this in the two standard parts as i usually do:

1. "All Australians 'hate' Americans"

- So here goes, Not all Australian's hate Americans, I dislike the minority of Americans who believe the following:
1. That we ride kangaroos
2. That we have "Drop Bears"
3. Think we are mostly like Steve Irwin
4. Think that the rest of us are like Crocodile Dundee
5. That Australia itself is apart of Europe geographically (yes, this comes up)
6. That we speak good English
7. You can walk from one side of the country to the other in a "few days"

Pretty much most of the "hate" is generated by ignorance of our culture(s). You know how sick of answering "So, whats your pet kangaroo's name?" and if i ride him/her/it to work each day? Couple that with the recent activities in Iraq and Afganistan, having "patriotic" Americans boucing up and down about how the Australian Defence Force (ADF) has done "nothing", is also pretty grating and I'm sure your marines and other American military personal on the ground over in Afganistan and Iraq would beg to differ.

I'll use this ONLY as examples from international printed press, many countries spin the line that we are "mini-America" or we are a country full of drunk, lazy louts or a bunch of racists, that also gets on our collective nerves.

The last thing that cracked me up recently in a debate about world war 2, apparently Australian troops where getting slaughtered until the Americans re-enforced us, yes i was told this was fact despite using my lovely tablet to prove otherwise.

In the end its how we are perseved in other countries, some TV personalities certainly do us no favors, and of course people remember people like Steve Irwin, yet forget the true patriotic Australians who helped shape this country into what she is today.

2. "The picture" - LOL! Love it, shame we have no space program, and we could say that NASA uses us to relay things like the Apollo program and the Mars rover program? So perhaps the image should be NASA borrowing our phone?
(note, this is intended as a joke, not as a realistic view)

LOL, Drop Bears, That's the story I tell My wifes relatives when they come over from OS....
I tell em that you have to be very wary of Drop Bears, the Big hairy Koala lookin things that hide in trees and drop down on unsuspecting tourists with their razor sharp teeth and claws...

And Wombles which are very large wombats weighing upwards of 500kg which have been known to bowl over tour buses. That's why our trucks have huge bullbars to round them up with!!!!

And who says Aussies don't have a sense of humor????

You don't have to be Australian to dislike the Youth Culture. I live away from the U.S., as much of the year as I can, to get away from having to support the youth culture.

Meh, figured it was a good idea to inject some humor into a serious thread. But for the most part, its a minority problem, all i can comment on is my friends and family. None of them hate America OR Americans as a whole just the ignorant few who seem to think they know more about our culture and history than we do.

The best (or worst) experience i have see first hand was an American family (Northerners given the accent), where rabbiting on and on about not being granted preferential treatement in customs (they where kicked back into the "Internaltional" line, and then proceeded to kickup a huge stink about it, looking at the Australian Feds standing around them, if they got more animated, i think they'd be headed back on the next US bound flight :/.

Note - for the uninitiated; Austrlaian Airport Customs we have 2 lines "Australian & New Zealand Passport holders" & "International Passport holders"

The ANZ line is ALWAYS short, because we dont need a VISA or anything to get back home, so we just "scan" in and go through, where as Internationals require visitor cards (which for some cases counts as a VISA, under certain agreements).

Edit:

@Wewillrise77 - You dont need to specify Wombats in their own right are scary enough, I'm thinking if you ran into one in a TANK it would destroy the tank and still just wander off :/

It has been a frequent occurrence on ATS and I have seen many Australian shows trying to prove how ignorant Americans are by visiting locations when there is minimal education. I also, have a friend who is Australian, his name is Kang Aroo. He is actually Chinese though........... kidding again.

Don't worry, my real American name is Iam Stu piderthanu.

America does not force you to do what America feels you need to do

From a military and political perspective I would have to disagree with you on this - Although I would not use the word "force", America is involved in our military strategy in the Australasian region. eg: please refer to this thread regarding the latest US-Aust joint Military intentions for Perth, Western Aust.
Also refer previous defence dept. White Paper(s) regarding US-Aust military ties. Our troops were committed to Afghanistan & Iraq as soon as same was requested by the US in 2001 and 2003 respectively.
The defence of this nation is very closely monitored by the US defence dept.
Our ties, both military and political, are undeniable.

It is irrelevant which puppet is elected into the office of PM of Australia - the real path that Australia is taking is consistent with American interests in the Australasian region. This is irrespective of which political party is elected into office and is beyond any PM's control.

Its not the people that are the issue - it is the ideological intentions of "elected" leaders that needs addressing (even though these 'intentions' are dictated to these leaders by the Illuminati). Some of us happen to enjoy the company of our American friends.

Darkblade, you need to pray for a quick season change back to winter. When it does happen, I want to prescribe you a nice few minutes laying in a snow drift to cool off. It will do you good. Remember, "I" have dealt with the hate and was only trying to express my opinion, not yours. I do like Australian citizens myself, but question why some spit such hate. I may need to question my American brother, you are spitting fire. Goodnight all, I have to be up a 3am and head to work.

Look to be perfectly honest that is one of the most amusing things i've ever read. You must not know many ozzies as the true amongst us are some of the biggest jokers on the planet. People who know me usually listen to by dry sarcasm then look stunned at the end until they work out the barrage of multiple jokes i just let out. Trust me brother, many of us have very good senses of humour. How else could be sift through 90% of the threads on this site and remain sane?

See above, this just strikes me as complete irony because again, we as a nation love to have a shot at ourselves, it's actually part of our culture.

You need to understand that you can not base your opinion of our country on those that you encounter on this site. A lot of people on this site are borderline insane, and have lost touch with reality. A lot seem so obsessed with conspiracy that they feed off it. If you as an American come on with a rebuttal or justification for their obscure theories, they'll tear you apart, or jump on the America Sucks bandwagon.

The way the US is portrayed in this country is somewhat annoying. The notion is that none of you understand sarcasm, and you're all overly patriotic and self centred. That honestly is the way you guys are painted. I know this to be untrue and in fact i find your people more polite than many in my own country. You only have to look at shows like Family Guy and so on to see the intense understanding of sarcasm.

While i won't comment on the continual war the US seems to have its hand in, that's for a different day, i will say that there is no hatred toward the American people from our end, just frustration at those who march on blindly to the sound of the institution without thinking things through and having their own viewpoint. You have your share of crazies, as do we. It just seems that you guys do it on a far more impressive level

Thanks for promoting our t-shirt by the way, we only had them designed, (N.Z.), made (China), and printed (Taiwan) last week. Cheers.

Anywho, as always when threads like this appear it's hatred for governments rather than individuals.

Yeah everyone hates America, but give them the chance to come and live here and they would in a second.
This site just has members with extreme views.

I am not at all pleased with my country presently, but the way people carry on at the WW3 forum, I mean the anti-usa forum, it's sickening. Straight to the ufo/alien forum for me I've had my share of cool-aid sipping Iran propagandists.

Yes, but understand, we do not try to prove a lack of intelligence of our own people, we joke about it.

That's silly, they don't hate us. They are probably just jealous of our sheer awesomeness.

Seriously though, there is plenty to hate even from my perspective. I'm sure there is a lot more from the perspective of people in other countries.

I never knew they did, if that matters.

Who the heck cares, really?

Winner here ladies and gents!
I was not aware of such tensions between US and our Aussie brethren.
Sure they probably think our foreign policy sucks but hey, so does a good number here in the US.

OP, you are right, it is not always about oil, but it has been.
That is no reason to murder people though.
We also war for minerals and the terrorist regime in israel too.
Damn now that I look at a bigger picture, I wouldn't blame them if they did think that all of us were sociopaths.

If you support war, greed and massacre , then open your arms to the hatred.

And if you don't support it , you are just a human being planning to live at peace with other people. Then no one hates you.

As Einstein once said so eloquently, "The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing." Well, my friend, America agrees with Einstein's principles.

And all the do something s are that have made world a better place by you.

9/11 do something
WW2 , Japan , do some thing.
WMD's do something.

Always do some thing.
