Officials: Fire on 88th floor of 1 World Trade Center in New York

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Officials are reporting a fire on the 88th floor of 1 World Trade Center in New York.

The fire department says the fire was reported shortly before 8 a.m. They say emergency personnel are on the scene.

Let's hope it won't collapse this time, we all know how fire can be destructive.

The fire at One World Trade Center began just as rush hour got underway, but was quickly tamed, a spokesman for the New York Fire Department told AFP.
"It's near under control," the spokesman said less an hour after the emergency started.
A total of 84 firefighters from 26 units were dispatched to the glimmering, glass-clad tower which rises to 104 floors. There were no injuries.

Welding happens......

Some news sites are reporting that this was a small fire that was brought under control. Most are reporting this as a false alarm.

Also, the first reports said that nobody was in the building at the time. Now, NBC is saying worked were on the 88th floor welding.

FDNY Battalion Chief Kevin Brennan says welding equipment on the floor caught fire just before 7:45 a.m. The fire was contained to the equipment and did not spread to the walls or floor, Brennan said.

Seriously, this should not be a complicated story, and yet main stream media can't even get their stories straight?
I guess that's why they're called "stories".

If the BBC reports that the building has collapsed, then about 20 minutes later it will really collapse.
