This is a prime example of how surveillance of the everyday average person can quickly and easily turn into something completely wrong and illegal.

^Exactly. This is very Orwellian. To my mind, it shouldn't MATTER what views someone holds.

You know what's worse? There are so many people out there who make it even easier for those who want to know everything about them. Social media anyone?

Yeah, this is the Onion, but it does help make my point so...

This sort of thing is nothing new in the UK. I once had a lift from the Personnel Director of Goodyear Tyre & Rubber (on a date between 1969 and 1973) during which he told me that they regularly vetted job applicants to weed out communists and known union militant activists. In my view at the time it was prudent policy to do so, even if unfair, because industrial relations in Goodyear were good and they didn't want the sort of thing that was happening in the UK car industry to happen to them! The database that they were using at that time was maintained by a right-wing organisation (the details escape me) and construction industry workers were among those victimised.

Let's not forget anyone with a history can already be blacklisted legally from various positions, with the ISA register in place if it extends to anyone with alleged mental health issues.

Does anybody besides me believe in free speech?

I am sick and tired of being ripped off by the tube and bus workers during the Olympics. Also, the disgraceful public sector unions, constantly grasping for more after they have bankrupted the country.

Naming and shaming these people is a good thing if it protects people from suffering at their hands.

Even if you disagree with this, surely you should support the rights of the rest of us to publicize their actions?

Being vocal against the unions is one thing. Using a private intelligence firm against their membership is another. And I'm quite certain it was the bank bailouts that bankrupted our country, so I'm not sure how the public sector workers were responsible for that, unless you were referring to Simon Hester's role managing a publicly-owned bank. Most the rest are paid far less than their private sector counterparts.

Try and get a public sector job if your a member of the BNP totally impossible, yet Communist party members are welcomed with open arms. Welcome to Great Britain 2012....although this has been going on for years.

Untill (fat chance) there are more jobs than workers, things will stay the same or even get worse, if China disapeired
overnight, things might change, but there is no point in anyone holding their breath!

So would I sue. How dare they? Who do these poeple think they are? Now it makes me wonder why I never got the promotion I was promised a few years ago and the CE ran off with a substantial amount of taxpayers money, which was never acounted for.
Shall I carry on? lol

This is just the old communist list renamed and rehashed presumably. Socialist is a dirty word, you all know that.

Pay your taxes and be a good little citizen, everything will be fine.

Rubbish. Have you got any proof of this at all, any?

I have worked for many public sector employers and know for a 100% fact that political allegiance isn't checked prior to appointment. Stop talking bollocks.
