When I was four

I was down in Texas with my mom and dad.

We were visiting some family relatives.

I was outside in a cotton field playing with some cousins.

The cotton field had no cotton. But the ground was very soft like it had been tilled.

I remember it being soft because it was hard to run fast on it.

Well as we were playing we all saw a huge gold bright and lit up ball floating in the distance.

As it came closer to us and floated overhead, I thought "The Goodyear Blimp!"

We all started running around pointing at it. It was prolly the size of a hot air balloon maybe a little larger.

It was a ball, with hundreds of gold lights all over it. Some turning off and making wired shapes that I thought were letters.

I had watched Monday night Football with my dad as a kid. So I just thought that the gold "bulbs" were just spelling out stuff. But since I didn't know how to read, I just assumed they were words.

At the time. I didn't even know what a UFO was.

After it flew slowly over us ( it was about 150 feet up) very close.

We all ran inside, all excited that we saw the Goodyear Blimp.

We told our parents that we saw the Goodyear Blimp

My mom and dad were like "really, wow! That's nice"

Of course they didn't take it serious.

This was in 1975.

I didn't really think about it for years.

Until this memory of it just popped into my head.

I was like " whoa! What in the hell was that then?"

I have seen a avatar on here that looks very much like what I saw.

It's a ball with lights.

The avatar I have seen there is a blue one and there is a gold one.

The object I saw looked like the gold one.

And you where 4......? The boogy man lived under my bed when i was 4....

Thank you, a very typical type of sighting even if the vehicle was unusual even for a UFO.
Decades ago, my father told me about a similar type of sighting that he and his mother had along a dirt country road. That sighting was in about 1910.

Just wait some troll will come along shortly and type: "Pics or it didn't happen."

Were they basic or complex shapes if you can remember

4 yr olds remember significant things.

I say very interesting memory. I don't recall similar reports of ufo's or such, but doesn't mean it was real.

Why do people keep typing "where" when it should be "were", and using "than" when it should be "then"? Is this some type of ATS language I'm not aware of? Just a pet peeve of mine. Had to vent...

OP, great story. I have several memories of my early childhood, but mine involved ghostly activity.
That was a beautiful illustration you presented. I would love to see that myself. I have seen UFOs, but not one like that. S&F for you.

It's pretty hard to trust people's accounts of strange craft in the sky, especially with all the hoohaw levels of denial about the entire subject matter. Even harder to trust accounts of a guy recounting an experience he had when he was 4. Not to say that this wasn't a strange craft, possibly of non-Earth origin even, but you know, it's another anecdotal to throw into the now HEAPING pile of anecdotal evidence.
