This is a rich granola bar, delicious,it also freezes well. Hope you enjoy them

Chocolate Frosted Granola Bars

2 c. white whole wheat flour 2 c. rolled oats
1 c. sugar 1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. soda 1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. butter, softened 2/3 c. peanut butter
2 tsp. vanilla 2 eggs
1 c. coconut

FROSTING:
1 c. chocolate chips melted 1 Tbsp. peanut butter
mix together to make frosting, after bars have baked and cooled.

Heat oven to 350°. Lightly spoon flour into cup, put in large bowl with remaining ingredients, except coconut. Mix well. Stir in coconut. Press into un-greased jelly roll pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Cool and frost. Cut into bars or squares as desired.

For those who might not know how to melt chocolate chips, it can be done in a double boiler on the stove or in the microwave. Detailed instructions for using the microwave can be found here www.noobcook.com...

Thank you soooo much for sharing that one!
Can't wait to try it. Question.......have you tried adding nuts or dried fruit to the mixture? Just wondering how it would effect the mixture. ie need to add more butter, egg, etc...

Not sure how it would work if you added more stuff, I think you'd have to add a bit more moisture somehow

I'm definitely going to make these! I think my 10-year-old will love them. I may try to experiment with different sweeteners, like honey or stevia - maybe even some splenda brown sugar blend - to reduce the processed sugar content. At least they do have whole grain - and that's a good thing!

Thanks for the recipe.
