Personally, I think the medal counts are as much a projection of commercialism as anything else. Rank by medal, sign contracts by rank. Contracts into the mega-millions per person. Yeah, I'd say the medal count and whose neck they go on has become big big business like every other aspect of the games now.

Of course, I was trying to play the field and get predictions on medal count -

I think China will win Gold, followed by Germany, then America.

And yes I think it's standard to focus in on the home team and focus in on medal wins. I'm not a big fan of the Olympics but did enjoy watching gymnastics. Lol
