If this fake skull has some weight to it and not cellophane light, I think I'd be pretty freaked out too. I mean, who'd expect to uncover even a fake skull??? And the way they make Halloween masks (unlike the crappy plastic and string that always broke when I had as a kid), this might be real life-like.
