Why do people keep saying things like "obviously mentally unstable" and such? How many schizos you know that were well on their way to having a PHD?

Well psychosis of any kind doesn't really have anything to do with someones intelligence....Many Schizophrenics/Bi-polar/Depressed/Etc. sufferers are quite bright and many of them can be high functioning, at times. Plus there's the fact that he was in the process of withdrawing from his PHD program....Perhaps the reason why is because this is when he first started showing mental illness signs.

Now don't get me wrong...I don't think mental illness is a get out of jail free card. Most mentally ill people are not violent.....A psychotic can act morally or immorally. It all comes down to whether or not they were so far gone in their delusions that they believed they were doing something good rather than bad. For instance, the Singer/Songwriter Daniel Johnston once grabbed the controls and crashed a small plane that his father was flying, because he literally thought he was Casper the Friendly Ghost.....What does Casper have to do with crashing a plane? I don't have a clue...the only person that did was D.Johnston. There's photos of them (they both miraculously survived the horrible crash) around the wreckage were he's smiling...thinking what a great thing he had done. That's just a good example of someone who was (at that moment) so far gone as to truly not understand that his actions were wrong. (There's a really good documentary about that guy, and his mental illness...Since we're discussing mental illness its somewhat relavant to whatever is going on in James Holme's head....I recommend it...I'll link the trailer here)

Now the example I just gave of Daniel Johnston being somewhat innocent of his acts due to mental illness, would not (I believe) apply to James Holmes. Daniel Johnston was so crazy at that point as to have a complete disillusionment from normal reality....he thought he was doing something good. This IMHO doesn't fit what we know of James Holmes. What he did....it would seem he planned for months ahead...stockpiling weapons and bullet proof protective gear. Rather than being delusional....He seemed lucid enough to know that he was planning a mass murder, and could have therefore understood the moral implications behind his actions.....He seems to me to be somewhat 'crazy'....yet sane enough to know exactly what he did, and he likely understands the morality around the question of 'why' he did it.

As for his appearance in court....Yes, I've seen that exact face before on myself many times. I suffer from Narcolepsy (though it's gotten much better in the last two years...I seem to be growing out of it a bit) While I doubt he suffers from Narcolepsy, there are two distinct things that can bring on such symptoms. Extremely little sleep, perhaps caused by the emotional stress of knowing what he has done, and realizing the rest of his life is ruined. The other thing could be that he's on a very heavy narcotic (wasn't there rumors that he was on Oxy or Vicodin?) Whatever happened to those rumors.....Does anyone know if they were legit or not? If they are, then he could simply be nodding out due to their effects. On the other hand it seems unlikely that they would continue to give it to him while he's in prison....Though they may have a policy of slowly weening him off of the stuff using Methadone

At the same time...If they are making him go cold turkey, (assuming the rumors of him being on something are true), then he would be going through some fairly bad withdrawal symptoms, which could make him act oddly as well (though I wouldn't think that cold turkey would make him sleepy and out of it.....It's more likely to make him fidgety and shaky.

I know it's too simple of an answer, but to me he looks like he's TRYING to look out of it.

I dunno, I think we should compare his expressions to someone similar during his trial like the Norway shooter to get some kind of objective answer to your question about why I think he doesn't look normal. He looks dizzy and confused.

All right, there, I compared James Holmes to Breivik. Now don't try to tell me there isn't something wrong with his expressions, it is like night and day between the two. One is obviously undergoing some kind of psychological distress and the other one is very composed.

Why are you comparing them? They have nothing to do with each other.

They are both people who engaged in killing sprees at their respective trials. By comparing them, one can find differences between the two. It is really the best way to show what I mean by James looking "messed-up" at his trial. Did you not think so when you compared him to someone, in the same situation, that looked normal?

I am answering inquiries as to why I think he looked odd at his trial, some people said that it was the normal look for someone who was on trial for mass-murder, and I'm showing that isn't the case.

I am not going to say mind control right away until a better case is made for it, but there could be other reasons - he could be drugged, it could be a generational thing (I'm a gamer, too, and when I got called to jury duty I was probably looking the same) but my point is, there is a reason behind him looking different, and he does look different than normal.

If you want to find truth in this world, a good strategy is to take everything into account with an open mind and then begin to rule things out with evidence. Ruling something out from the get-go just means you aren't going to be adequately exploring all of the options.

One just went and killed 12 people. So I know of 1 at least.

Smart people are incapable of being crazy. I know right!!

I am not just asking about James Holmes' look in court, hence the new thread. What I would like to know is did he go through any type of research, or testing, like Ted Kaczynski who was a subject in the Thematic Apperception Test. I never doubt my "gut" feelings, they always prove to be right or close to right. My "gut" feelings are telling me something is wrong here. It's odd that my mind snapped to the unabomber as soon as I seen the first picture of Holmes.
This is not the only shootings to take place in recent months, and I begin to wonder at the timing. Why? Because one of the biggest blows to the Constitution is gaining more support with each shooting. Obama is getting more and more reasons to sign the UN gun treaty. The U.S. becomes impotent without our right to bear arms, leaving us open for all sorts of nasty surprises.
Yes there is forms of mind control everywhere, but in order for a person to be "controlled" into such a monstrous
deed would take mind control to a whole new level. Possibly beyond what we can even conceive.
This is something to look into, I don't believe in coincidences.

The problem is that he needs to be diagnosed by an expert on mind control and most of them work for the government so the truth may not see the light of day. One thing is for sure tho: we need to outlaw bright orange hair dye!

Project MKOFTEN (Black Magick)

Project ARTICHOKE (Hypnosis, Forced Addiction)

Operation Dormhouse (Diversion from ARTICHOKE)

Just a few that we know about... of course there was MK-ULTRA, the big one, but how many that we will never hear of?

Tools of Mind Control:

1. Control environment: Loved ones are cut off from family, no communication.

2. Break down sense of self: Break down their sense of self-esteem, literally attack them as individuals on the basis that they are wrong and that the group is right.

3. Instill new sense of identity: New identity is reinforced by the group environment, where you get no feedback except from other members who tell you that they understand the right behavior and the right way of being.

4. Isolate: Cut off from outside world. Fear keeps them trapped inside the environment of the group.

People Who Are Vulnerable to Mind Control:

Rick says that people who have been brainwashed come from all walks of life, regardless of education, social status, family background and/or intelligence. However, the people who are more vulnerable to mind control are those going through a difficult time in life and/or a transition:

1. Recently divorced
2. Illness
3. Personal tragedy
4. Career failure
5. Away from home for the first time

Warning Signs of a Brainwashed Victim:

1. Obsessive: Extreme obsessiveness regarding the group/leader resulting in the exclusion of almost every practical consideration.

2. Dependency: Dependency upon the group/leader for problem solving, solutions, and definitions without meaningful reflective thought, a seeming inability to think independently or analyze situations without group/leader involvement.

3. Agrees with group: Anything the group/leader does can be justified no matter how harsh or harmful.

4. Loss of spontaneity: A dramatic loss of spontaneity and sense of humor.

5. Isolation: Increasing isolation from family and old friends unless they demonstrate an interest in the group/leader.
