James Holmes allegedly took Vicodin before his horrific actions that ended the lives of twelve people.

AURORA, Colo. -- First responders to the Aurora theater shooting at first thought the shooter was a fellow officer, and the shooter had taken 100mg of Vicodin about two and half hours before the shooting, according to information from sources.

Shooter Took Prescription Drug Before Attack

There where 11,493 firearm homicides in 2008.

All homicides
Number of deaths: 16,799
Deaths per 100,000 population: 5.5
Cause of death rank: 15
Firearm homicides
Number of deaths: 11,493
Deaths per 100,000 population: 3.7

CDC - Firearm homicides

There where 27,000 unintentional drug overdose deaths in 2007, which are sharply rising.

In 2007, approximately 27,000 unintentional drug overdose deaths occurred in 2008, one death every 19 minutes.

CDC Grand Rounds: Prescription Drug Overdoses — a U.S. Epidemic

Between 1999 and 2007, the number of deaths associated with opioid analgesics increased from 4,041 to 14,459

Prescription Painkiller-Related Deaths On The Rise

And now, out of fear of lost profits the pharmaceutical company holding the patent on what is probably the most lethal addictive painkiller on the market, Oxycontin... Want to feed this # to your kids!

OxyContin For Kids!

Looks like our trusted FDA gave them the go ahead!

Purdue Pharma is testing OxyContin on children six and up. Oxy's gonna go out of patent some day, and shut down Purdue's gravy train. But if they test it on kids -- even it's never approved for use on kids! -- the folks at the FDA will extend their patent by another six months. "Dr. Elliot Krane, director of pain management at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford University" says "They are doing (the pediatric trial) for patent exclusivity, there’s no doubt about it in my mind.... That’s important for their bottom line."

Big Pharma gives Oxy to kids, gets an extra six months of patent monopoly

I wonder why?

Two of the world’s largest drug companies are paying hundreds of millions of dollars to doctors every year in return for giving their patients anemia medicines, which regulators now say may be unsafe at commonly used doses.

Critics, including prominent cancer and kidney doctors, say the payments give physicians an incentive to prescribe the medicines at levels that might increase patients’ risks of heart attacks or strokes.

Do you trust your doctor to prescribe the appropriate drugs for you?

Doctors Getting Paid to Prescribe Drugs

Just some facts to ponder while you witness the public and political outcry for gun control.
Personally I think there are some more pressing regulations that need to be addressed.
Not that I have any faith in political regulations and motives, or elections for that matter.
But lets just go ahead and give the wizards running the show more power over us shall we!
Because we all know damn well our safety and well being is their primary concern!

pills can quickly turn people into junkies, its horrible. There are more natural ways to deal with pain i hope the american people wake up and relize it one day. We can either pay the big pharma companies to kill us or we can grow are own medicine and not die.

I'd hedge a bet that those addicted to money influence and power do far more damage than drug addicts!

I hear you though!

100mg is nothing at all. i didn't even know they made them that small. I've only ever heard of 500's 750's and 1000mg. Also how do they know he had it in him?

Regulation doesn't solve anything either. The truly intent on getting the drugs will get them any way they can.

I'm tired of this calling for more regulation every time something happens.

Well naturally...

according to information from sources.

I guess drug test results come back faster for gunman than they do for zombies!

Another article states...

Fact: Aurora alleged gunman James Eagan Holmes was found in possession of Vicodin, a drug prescribed for pain, when police arrested him outside the Century Theatre.

Agreed! Especially when the regulators are funded by those with financial interests in the regulations!
