Every now and again a member leaves ATS, drops off the radar so to speak. We see it quite often, other members will inquire into their whereabouts, sometimes the missing member turns up, sometimes they don't.

So with that in mind, i wonder how many people here would be missed if they suddenly didn't exist on ATS any more? Actually, i need to reword that, would people even know who you were if something happened to you?

I ask because, and forgive me for having to keep this rather sketchy, but a friend of mine died a while back, and silly as this sounds, i have no idea if he was a member here.

For the few years i knew him, mainly from my local pub, we have talked about conspiracies. He was far more educated in general that i am, but also when it came to CT's, he was really into them in a major way. He once lent me his hard drive to watch any of the 80 gigs of conspiracy documentaries he had on there.

However the subject of ATS only came up a few times, usualy me saying that i'd read something on here and then we'd discuss it. In all those years, he never asked my username, and i never asked his. I think it was a bit of mutual respect for each others privacy.

In the later years, we didn't see so much of each other, he travelled a lot and was also involved in a new relationship, but what changed majorly was that he became quite aggressive and aggrieved when talking about conspiracy theories. I remember him talking about a friend who had just started working for Sky, he went off on one about News Corps in a major way. I know he had a go at someone else, also a friend about working with KBR. This was so far against his normal character, very much a peace loving hippy type.

Anyway, a few months ago, we heard that he'd been found dead in a hotel abroad. I'll leave any more details out of it, to be honest we didn't get any more details other than he was found dead.

It's been laying on my mind since then that he could have been a popular member of ATS and no-one knew. I don't even want to post his real name because i don't want to cause the family any more heartache.

I think all i want to say is this...whilst i totally respect that many here want to remain anonymous, have you ever thought that maybe some members here would really miss you when you go? Maybe just a pm to a fellow member saying, "Hi, my name is so and so, if you ever see me disapear from here.....Google me

Lol, this is one of the only places I get to be myself, I have to pretend to be the person everyone wants me to be IRL. On the net under the cover of anonymity I can behave as I will, and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

Which brings me back to, I am who I act like on ATS. If anyone wants to know anything about me, they can read my profile info( lol just realized it is all blank just like I like it) it will fill you in on my personal preference for being anonymous.

I have a designated friend who will inform the sites that I frequent if i should pass away or am unable to be online for some reason. I had never really thought much about this until one year when I was without a computer for two or three weeks. When I got back online I had tons of e-mails and private messages. I was so touched. I couldn't believe that many people cared so much. Everyone was so worried. And then I recently kicked cancer in the butt, but you never know what may lay ahead. So if anyone cares, you will be informed.

Forgot to add that I am who I am wether here or in real life. Not my avatar, but me, my personality, my thoughts and ideas. I see no reason to pretend to be anyhting else.

Yeah, at this point in time I think it's safe to assume that T.D. would be missed if he left.

Different reasons for different people.

If I ever leave, people will know why.

I think that if I left for good a few would miss me for awhile.
Others' would probably have a party and say good riddance!

I am only quoting this part of what your posted here and it might be a bit of topic but it is very important I think.

What you have just said is exactly what keeps people from living their life and being who they want to be.

Be yourself and shine from within, do not let any idiot keep you down just because they are afraid of themselves. Be a shepard not a sheep!

Why make yourself smaller for others?

Stop being a copy or being what you expect others expect, actualise yourself and be yourself!

The only time I hear 'I missed you' from anyone in real life, it's because their aim was off.
