NDAA 2013 makes it clear war with Iran will happen next year

Review of previous NDAA documents in comparison to the one prepared for 2013 makes it more than clear the US is preparing for war with Iran in 2013. The NDAA legislation year upon year have become more aggressive to Iran, to where we are today- that the US is now going to fully prepare for military conflict with Iran.

In 2009, the NDAA was talking about diplomatic solutions-

) A discussion and assessment of the commitment
of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to engage
in good-faith discussions with the United States to resolve
matters of concern through negotiation.

The 2012 NDAA reported on finanical sanctions against Iran-

(c) FREEZING OF ASSETS OF IRANIAN FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS.—
The President shall, pursuant to the International Emergency Economic
Powers Act (50 U.S.C. 1701 et seq.), block and prohibit
all transactions in all property and interests in property of an
Iranian financial institution if such property and interests in property
are in the United States, come within the United States,
or are or come within the possession or control of a United States
person

In 2012 the US has applied what the NDAA called for, namely imposing sanctions on Iran.

Proposed for 2013, I'll leave a few quotes, they speak for themselves -

(4) Preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear
4 weapon is among the most urgent national security
5 challenges facing the United States.

(8) Nevertheless, to date, diplomatic overtures,
21 sanctions, and other non-kinetic actions toward Iran
22 have not caused the Government of Iran to abandon
23 its nuclear weapons program.

So whilst previous NDAA legislation spoke of diplomatic solutions and economic sanctions, as we head into 2013, the attitude is that this no longer works as Iran is showing no signs of adandoning their nuclear program.

(b) DECLARATION OF POLICY.—It shall be the policy
4 of the United States to take all necessary measures, in5
cluding military action if required, to prevent Iran from
6 threatening the United States, its allies, or Iran’s neigh7
bors with a nuclear weapon.

SEC. 1222. UNITED STATES MILITARY PREPAREDNESS IN
9 THE MIDDLE EAST.

(1) military exercises conducted in the Persian
13 Gulf and Gulf of Oman emphasize the United States
14 resolve and the policy of the United States described
15 in section 1221(b) by enhancing the readiness of the
16 United States military and allied forces, as well as
17 signaling to the Government of Iran the commitment
18 of the United States to defend its vital national se19
curity interests;

(2) the President, as Commander in Chief,
21 should augment the presence of the United States
22 Fifth Fleet in the Middle East and to conduct mili23
tary deployments, exercises, or other visible, concrete
24 military readiness activities to underscore the policy
25 of the United States described in section 1221(b).

I'm amazed this hasn't been picked up already. The NDAA has toughened year upon year regarding Iran, from early talk of diplomatic solutions, the current economic sanctions to what is planned next year- that it is the most important national security concern for America and that there will be full 'military readiness' to make sure Iran is under control. This can't be disregarded, this is evidence that war is being planned.

This is posted in the WW3 forum because an Iran conflict as we all know, will escalate out of control very quickly.

None of us want this war, but the people creating the NDAA legislation certainly do and their hardening approach each year is the warning bells for those who are prepared to acknowledge the truth.

We'll see. Ive been hearing "war next year with Iran" for over 2 years now.

Well the NDAA is actual legislation, the documents are there to be read.

It was calling for 'negotiations' in 2009, 'economic sanctions' in 2012, the NDAA for 2013 talks of the US preparing militarily for a conflict with Iran. I would agree they have been preparing for over 2 years but never have we seen actual legislation until now that considers a conflict with Iran.

The only thing stopping it right now is Syria, this is why Obama is still insisting on following through the NDAA set for this year- namely economic sanctions. The 'window of opportunity' he currently refers to is dealing with the Syria problem before the end of this year (he knows full well diplomatic solutions and sanctions will not stop war with Iran, which the NDAA makes it look set for next year).

Yeah same here, it's been war with Iran next week, next month, next year, next this, next that, yadda, yadda, yadda. The more this drags on the less of a chance it will happen. Which is a good thing. Let it drag on.

would you post a link to said NDDA2013 document. Not that you would make this up , but seen in in Gov format, proving that this is their intention would help, side not the US Gov will do all it can to keep Iran from building[ or so they think], a Nuke weapon

OP - thanks for sharing the docs. It certainly seems that the wording has hardened, and the implications are obvious. I know from an 'inside the inside' source that things are scheduled to get hectic in a surprising way, some time early in 2013.

What nuclear weapons program? I thought is was a nuclear energy program...

You have to realise that the people making this legislation are constantly being pushed to believe or take a certian line of thought.

when enrichment goes to 23% and above it is for weapons use nothing more do some investigating, you will see the light of Iran's intentions.... that is to wipe Israel of the face of the earth.

In 2010 the NDAA was saying the policy was peaceful negotiation with Iran.

In 2013 the NDAA is saying that diplomatic solutions are not working, that Iran is THE biggest threat to US national security and the policy is to make huge military preparations for conflict with Iran.

What annoys me about this lack of interest is that everyone will be going crazy when the US starts this preparation- it will happen because it is legislation!

So people need to see it to believe it, even though legisilation is telling you it will happen next year.

It wouldn’t surprise me if war with Iran happens. After all, Iran continues to thumb its nose at the world and violate the NPT. When you sign an agreement then refuse to fulfill your obligation, especially in a situation as serious as nuclear proliferation, there are serious consequences.

After 2 visits to Iran in February, Iran refused to allow IAEA access to sites which is a CLEAR VIOLATION of the NPT agreement that Iran voluntarily signed!!!!

During both the first and second round of discussions, the Agency team requested access to the military site at Parchin. Iran did not grant permission for this visit to take place.

Intensive efforts were made to reach agreement on a document facilitating the clarification of unresolved issues in connection with Iran's nuclear programme, particularly those relating to possible military dimensions. Unfortunately, agreement was not reached on this document.

"It is disappointing that Iran did not accept our request to visit Parchin during the first or second meetings," IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano said. "We engaged in a constructive spirit, but no agreement was reached."

The most recent visit to Iran was also unsuccessful. After its meeting with Iranian official on June 8, 2012, The IAEA Deputy Director General Herman Nackaerts had the following to say:

"As announced by the Director General earlier this week, we met today to discuss the structured approach paper. The Agency team came to the meeting in a constructive spirit with the desire and intention of finalising the paper. We presented a revised draft which addressed Iran's earlier stated concerns. However, there has been no progress and, indeed, Iran raised issues that we have already discussed and added new ones. This is disappointing. A date for a follow-on meeting has yet to be fixed."

Iran is trying its best to usher in the "end of times" according to Khamenei and they'll likely succeed in at least ushering in their own demise.

Legislation will be what passes. Weird I know for you to appreciate but I do concede it is a mind numbing notion. That legislation could actually go into effect. Mind blowing!!!!!!!!!! :

The NDAA for 2012 asked for economic sanctions, and that is what Obama has been applying all year. The reason is because he is following the legislation laid out for him.

So when the NDAA for 2013 is saying having to prepare a large enough military force to sustain attacks on Iranian targets, it is more than clear war is being prepared.

It's amazing the conclusions one can reach by applying some logic.

Its not going to lead to world war 3 only a naive child would think such a thing. I do not want to put forth the effort to type a large paper like essay in explaining why such thinking is absurd. The children would only ignore it in favor of outlandish claims and end of the world type scenario's as this gives weak minded individuals a purpose in there life!
