I have been reading up on this 'M6 Terror Alert' with the totally over the top response all for what turns out to be an electronic cigarette.
Some things about it are posing questions for me, I have to admit.
Some things that happened:
Turns out the driver was not the normal driver and was asked to fill in for his sick colleague at the last minute.
A passenger on the bus that called the police directly, rather than say, go and speak to the driver about something they thought was a bit untoward.
There are several different reports of what the passenger saw : someone poured a liquid into a box and it started smoking, someone poured a liquid
into a bag and it started smoking, someones bag started smoking.
As far as I can tell, neither the caller nor the cigarette dude have been named, though they may have been in an article I have not yet come across.
Though usually the mainstream name everyone (and give their ages/where they are from etc) who were involved in any incident (unless they are a
minor).
Police contacted the driver (not exactly sure how) to pull over just past the tolls, which was about the most convenient open spaced place to pull
over at for something like this to take place, so the incident timing was rather spot on in order to allow him to do that rather than if he had been
in the middle of the toll road stretch where it would make the whole operation more difficult and less easy to be filmed by news crews.
No one was allowed to leave until the terror squad arrived and even once the squad were there the bus driver was told to bring them off one by one
when told to and to tell them they had to make sure they did not put their hands in their pockets.
Questions:
How usual is it for the Megabus to go down the M6 toll road on that route/time?
Not totally familiar with e-cigarettes, and was under the impression they came with little refill vials that go directly into the cigarette. I have
now seen some vids on how to fill them up and it seems you can drip the liquid straight in, though is a bit of a delicate operation and can't see it
being too easy on a bus. At no time in any of the videos does it show any vapour/smoke being produced just by pouring the liquid. So why would someone
see vapour/smoke appear if it was just an e-cig being refilled? Was this a lie?
Would it be normal, if you saw something on a bus, to immediately call the police rather than initially alerting the driver, since the bus driver is
in direct control at the time and the first person in authority?
Why were passengers taken off the bus by the driver and not the specialists that had arrived?
Why were they not all taken off at once? If there was a danger of something on the bus, why delay exiting the bus further? Even in the 'fizzle
pants' incident over Detroit, they took everyone off the plane all at the same time, not one by one.
Was there anything else politically going on that day that needed a news diversion whilst all media eyes were covering this?
Are there plans/ have there already been orders for body scanners at bus terminals and they just need the right frame of mind from the public, caused
by a terror incident, in order to accept this?
Anyone think I am just being suspicious and paranoid over this?
Thought this might make a good discussion topic as I know all you ATS fans are very good at finding answers.
