Poland sold things to Saddam

Bush and some people on this forum present Poland as a great country.
Then I've got the duty to tell you that CIA uncovered that Poland sold Volgi engines to Saddam when it was illegal to do so after 1991's war. It was Poland who broke that prohibition, some French and Russian companies (but they're not US allies in this war) and some companies inside US. CIA has already reported it to the Congress

And pre-1991,

The US was the exclusive supplier of all things explosive, sharp, or deadly to Saddam Hussein.

So, why be down on Poland?

I think people should take care of themselves before they meddle with others' business. This is just another example.

But they sold after 1991, after the embargo was laid down, so they broke the embargo and thus should not be called a great ally by neither Bush nor this forum's community

That's probably true, but is Bush really ignorant to the fact that Poland sold items to Iraq post-embargo?

The CIA would have known all this back in 1991, so would the US government, the UK government and most intel agencies and governments around the world.

These sort of issues only become important when it's politically necessary to make them so. Poland has been groomed as an ally for quite a while now, it has had a lot of sweet-talking from Washington and encouragement to join NATO, with some equipment upgrades from the US of course. Maybe Polands recent gripes about the situation in Iraq has something to do with this story......or maybe I'm just too cynical
