Hey ATS...

For those of you concerned with Agenda 21, please spend some time looking at the policies of my home city, Vancouver BC Canada, as this is ground zero for this agenda and I'm not sure too many people realize this.

I have lived here for quite some time but now the plan is really kicking into full gear. Our horizon is filled with empty glass condo towers. Nobody can afford to live in them yet they continue to build them. At first, it was just the downtown area but now they are moving into the residential areas of the city traditionally reserved for the "working class" and new immigrants. One such area is my home and full scale gentrification is taking place here now, as well as other similar areas. The so-called lower income bracket, which would be at least middle class anywhere else, as this is one of the most expensive cities in the world, are being pushed further and further out. Same ole thing, you guys know the drill, no need to get into a huge explanation of it.

But being familiar with the Agenda 21 outline I started going to the city council meetings and have heard all the lingo and seen all the plans. Huge towers in tiny areas called "densification", or as our former Mayor has tried to trademark "Eco-Density", with rapid transit lines connecting them all. Condos on top, retail on the bottom. Telus, a huge telecommunications company here, is building a tower called "Telus Gardens" which it promotes as a place to live and work! Watch the video below -

The mayor and city council have been promoting themselves, since the 2010 Winter Olympics (which caused a lot of new building and displacement), as the "greenest city in the world by 2020". The talk of "sustainability" and generally "going green" is very common here. Most of the citizens back this as a good thing without fully understanding the consequences.

Here is some recent news to illustrate these points -

Vancouver Mayor heads to Europe to Share Secrets of Success

Vancouver and its mayor will be the stars at an international convention in Paris next week that touts the city as the entrepreneurial, high-tech model for the new urbanism of the 21st century.

And one final point, a recent long time Vancouver city council member named David Cadman, is president of ICLEI, also known as, The International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives.

ICLEI has a group in almost every city (yes yours too!) and they are responsible for pushing the Agenda 21 propaganda. It would make sense that he is the president as Vancouver is the shining example of Agenda 21.

A few points about Vancouver to remember -

- one of the most expensive cities in the world to live
- the most expensive real estate in the world
- largest gap between the rich and the poor in Canda
- has Canada's worst and poorest neighbourhood
- highest child poverty in all of Canada
- one of, if not, the most corrupt police force in Canada
- second home to Li-Ka Shing, one of the richest men in the world and head of one of the 13 families. He and his sons own the construction companies and real estate that do the majority building. They own 2/3's of downtown Vancouver.
- worst organized gang problems in Canada. this city is run by Hells Angels and Asian triads, shootings here are a weekly occurrence.

So if this is the example of the "best city to live in", we are all in a heap of trouble!!

Thanks for taking the time to read this....

Guess who else is pushing agenda 21 in every city and town and nook and cranny.

Today the INTERNATIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) joined by the UNITED NATIONS GLOBAL COMPACT announced the creation of Business Action for Sustainable Development (Agenda 21) 2012 (BASD2012). Chad Holiday Chairman of Bank of America and former CEO of Dupont have agreed to chair the event!

Jean-Guy Carrier, International Chamber of Commerce Acting General Secretary stated in this article on the US CHAMBER OF COMMERCES website “The private sector is a crucial partner in creating solutions to today’s pressing development and environmental challenges and is already active on many fronts!” “At the same time, there is still much to be done in ramping up businesses contribution to (his words not mine) ADVANCING AGENDA 21 and the Millenium Development Goals as we head towards RIO+20.

Cicero was right.

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."

So what is your specific complaint about 'Eco-density'. The alternative is vancouver continuing to spread out LA suburban-sprawl style to the east in the historically fertile farmland of maple ridge, abbotsford, etc.

And whats your specific complaint with and mass transit lines? You think everyone should drive their car frm the suburbs?

Also, your claim that the condos are mostly empty is totally unproven urban myth: more than 90% of the condos are being lived in:

Back in 2009, Yan looked at data from BC Hydro and the City of Vancouver to determine whether most downtown condos were sitting empty, as per local realty folklore (BC Hydro classified a condo as empty if it uses less than 75 kWh of electricity per month, the city suggested a threshold of 100 kWh).

Yan selected a sample of some 2,400 condos spread across 13 buildings in downtown Vancouver and found an average of 5.5 (BC Hydro numbers) to 8.5 (city numbers) per cent of units in the study population had usage rates suggesting they were sitting empty, to his mind disproving the myth that most of Vancouver's downtown apartments have absent offshore owners.

We once lived in a Garden of Eden. This looks like a "garden" from the pits of hell. No thanks. I would rather live off the land.

If everyone went and 'lived off the land', the land would be entirely used up. Density is a good thing.
