Iran discovers 6 billion barrels of new oil reserves

TEHRAN, July 4 (MNA) – Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi has announced that oil reserves of up to 6 billion barrels have been discovered in southwest Iran.
The reserves are located around the Yadavaran oilfield in Khuzestan province, Qasemi said.

“With this new discovery the volume of retrievable oil reserves in the country increased 5 to 6 billion barrels,” Shana news agency quoted Qasemi as saying.

It had previously been reported that Iran’s recoverable oil and natural gas reserves stood at 154.8 billion barrels and 33.1 trillion cubic meters, respectively.

With the new oil discovery Iran’s oil reserves stand at about 160 billion barrels.

Hmmmm... now there is another reason for Isreal and its western-backed friends to attack Iran??! If they didn't already want to put this country back to the stone age due to its emerging technology and ability to be independent, now this extra find of HUGE oil reserves within Iran will be the icing on the cake if/when Iran is attacked by Isreal and the U.S.

There is about 24 billion barrels being tapped in North Dakota alone, right now - Iran can keep its paltry 6 billion, though China might want it....

under embargo.. low demand
find a bunch of oil... higher supply

Seems like Iran should've just kept this private because any buyer is going to want the oil on the super cheap.
I don't think it factors into the currently fictional NATO invasion. Many would like to think it's all about oil, but it's not. Especially not that marginal amount. At least not right now.

"Another reason"? That's been the whole reason from the start! Another %5 of oil being discovered changes nothing.

the sanctions from the west have created fear amongst the public and the establishment and the timing of this is very suspicious. It is most likely to in-stil confidence in the strength of Iran's economy and not a legitimate discovery

Right now I can tell you it's gotten pretty bad there, especially food prices, they have skyrocketed and it's significantly more expensive than it is in canada now

Interesting timings after many countries cut back on their import of Iranian oil. Can it also be a salesmanship on the part of Iran to lure their customers to ignore the sanctions imposed on their customers? Luring in a way to justify a long duration of uninterrupted oil supply for the growing economies? Just a thought.
