ahh yes i remember it well,,their was a game back then,, it used the "microsoft Starfield Generater,
with space warp , where u inputed the lat/long Co-oridinates,,and then mostly blew other ships up,,while maintaining, shields etc,,
for your space craft,,
anyone remember its name?

Would that be Star Raiders? Great game for the time. And yes I remember playing Pong when it came out. Lame by today's standards but we had a ball.

Star Raiders' sounds of engines, shots, explosions, alarms, etc. are synthesized directly using the Atari POKEY sound chip's capabilities. Author Doug Neubauer was involved in the design of POKEY.

The entire game, code and data, fits into 8K (8192 bytes) of ROM, and requires only 8K of RAM for its working data and display visuals; thus it can run on any Atari 8-bit computer.

I'd forgotten that one. You had to build a burger using patties, pickles, buns, etc, right? That was fun. States and Capitals was also good for a short time. Once you got it down though, not so much.

I've still got an Atari 520ST modded for an extra 520k of ram.
Also still got an Atari 4800.

Both still work.

My fav early computer was the ZX81. Learnt to program on it, had to coz there was sod all else to do with it

I don't know the criteria for what makes the page but I moved this to Video Games. Appropriate forum.

Atari doesn't even exist anymore, it's just a brand name, that after the originaly company basically died in 1996 is thrown around between other companies. First it was a brand at JTS inc. who then sold the name to Hasbro who then sold it to Infogrames.
And that's what Atari is today: Infogrames. It has absolutely nothing to do with the original company that Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney started in 1972.

And Atari was only relevant until 1983. Once that idiot Jack Tramiel came in, Atari started to die a painful slow death. Except for the Atari ST nothing good came from that company.

I still play Adventure from time to time on my Atari joystick.

It's an Atari joystick with RCA leads that you plug into the TV. It contains 10 games, one of which is Adventure.

I still have an Atari 7800, stored in a box,in my basement along
with several games.I wrapped the console in plastic before placing
it in the box.One of these days I would like to take it out and see if
it still works.
My favorite games:River Raid,Pole Position,Dark Chambers,Centipede,
Robotron,Space Invaders...ahh,those were the days.
