This sorta agonizing is where people that follow a written dogma really lose me.

The thing that I recall is that Jesus really didn't hate pagans. He wasn't mean to them, and he didn't treat them like they were satan or satanic.

Jesus condemned all religion which was NOT sincerely FELT. Time and time again, he admonished rigid, indoctrinated, overly thought out practices of the very priesthood- , he did not TRUST exterior rigorism, which stated you had to do it just this way for salvation.

JMO but I'd rethink this. Or maybe it just isn't what I believe- the day of the week you worship on???? to be of significance for the attainment of peace and approval of the divine??

I don't think it matters if you get dunked in a lake or go into a cave and get your feet washed for baptism either. That reminds me a bit of magic. It has to be on the 7th hour, when Jupitar is sextile the Moon, at a road that forks in the wilderness..

Do you want to know the one question SDA's can't answer?

I'm curious to know.
What is it?

Preamble...
Seventh-day Adventists believe their movement arose as prophetic fulfillment in 1844...
...based on an interpretation of 2300 days of Daniel 8:14 that for no internal reason they convert to years.

The 2300 years they begin in 457 BC and fix the crucifixion of Jesus in 31 AD to reach the year 1844.

Their prophetess Ellen White confirmed the 31 AD date and the 1844 date...
...and Ellen clearly says that Jesus rested in Joseph's tomb on a weekly Sabbath...
...and that this Sabbath was also a Passover...here are some of the references...

"At last Jesus was at rest. The long day of shame and torture was ended. As the last rays of the setting sun ushered in the Sabbath, the Son of God lay in quietude in Joseph's tomb. His work completed, His hands folded in peace, He rested through the sacred hours of the Sabbath day.

"With this scene the day upon which Jesus rested is forever linked. For "His work is perfect;" and "whatsoever God doeth, it shall be forever." Deut. 32:4; Eccl. 3:14. When there shall be a "restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began" (Acts 3:21), the creation Sabbath, the day on which Jesus lay at rest in Joseph's tomb, will still be a day of rest and rejoicing. Heaven and earth will unite in praise, as "from one Sabbath to another" (Isa. 66:23) the nations of the saved shall bow in joyful worship to God and the Lamb." Ellen White DA Chapter 80

"That was a never-to-be-forgotten Sabbath to the sorrowing disciples, and also to the priests, rulers, scribes, and people. At the setting of the sun on the evening of the preparation day the trumpets sounded, signifying that the Sabbath had begun. The Passover was observed as it had been for centuries, while He to whom it pointed had been slain by wicked hands, and lay in Joseph's tomb." Ibid

Elsewhere Ellen endorses the 31AD crucifixion year and the Gregorian Saturday/Sabbath identity.

Question...
Can any SDA show how a Julian calendar Saturday, Sabbath and Passover can coincide in 31 AD?

"But like most SDA's on prophecy he makes the Papacy everything and it is not. The Papacy is but one of the seven heads of the Beast System and besides This Beast now of Rev 13: has ten horns now with the crowns showing that the ruling power is no longer with any of the heads no more as it was in Rev 12:3."

It is a conglomerate beast picking up from the symbols (of the 4 beasts) from Daniel
Head of a Lion (Babylon), Feet of a bear (medo-persia), body of a leopard (represent Greece, leopard with 4 heads) ect. The 4 beast in total had 7 heads....1 from Babylon, Medo-Persia, Rome, and 4 from Greece

"The beast had also four heads" The Grecian Empire maintained its unity but little longer than the lifetime of Alexander. After his brilliant career ended in a fever induced by a drunken debauch, the empire was divided among his four leading generals. Cassander had Macedonia and Greece in the west; Lysimachus had Thrace and the parts of Asia on the Hellespont and the Bosphorus in the north; Ptolemy received Egypt, Lydia, Arabia, Palestine, and Coele-Syria in the south; and Seleucus had Syria and all the rest of Alexander's dominions in the east. By the year 301 BC, with the death of Antigonus, the division of the kingdom of Alexander into four parts was completed by his general.
Daniel and Revelation, Uriah Smith (Chapter 7)

The 4 beasts in Daniel represent the time prophecies of ruling kingdoms from the time of King Nebuchadnezzar's Babylon and onwards. How does a beast representing the commingling of ancient kingdoms manifest as this religio-political power in more modern times? It is because the symbology represented of the kingdoms is manifest in the worship practices and philosophy of the Papal system now.

Daniel 7:24, "And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings."

THE TEN HORNS that came to be after Rome fell:
1. The Alamannis which is now called Germany
2. The Visigoths which is now called Spain
3. The Franks which is now called France
4. The Sueves which is now called Portugal
5. The Burgundians which is now called Switzerland
6. The Anglo Saxons which is now called England
7. The Lombards which is now called Italy
8. The Ostrogoths
9. The Vandal
10. The Herulis

"The three divisions which were plucked up where the Heruli in 493 the vandals and 534 and the Ostrogoths in 538. Justinian, the emperor, who we see was at Constantinople, working through the general Belisarius, was the power that overthrough the three kingdoms represented by the three horns, and the reason for their overthrow with their adherence to Arianism in opposition to the orthodox Catholic faith." - the book of Daniel, page 109

Catholic emperors of the eastern empire found ways to help the pope by eliminating three of the Arian tribes. (These "Arian type" nations would not agree with the popes plans) The Catholic emperor Zeno (474-491) arranged a treaty with the Ostrogoths in 487 which resulted in the eradication of the kingdom of the Arian Heruls in 492. And the catholic emperor Justinian (527-565) exterminated the Arian Vandals in 534 and significantly broke the power of the Arian Ostrogoths in 538. Thus were Daniels three horns - The Heruls, the Vandals, and the Ostrogoths - "plucked up by the roots." -C. Mervyn Maxwell, God Cares Vol. 1, p. 129

This whole topic is explored much more in the 2 videos:
- Two Beasts Become Friends
- and The Wine of Babylon

and the book Daniel and Revelation, by Uriah Smith

I would encourage you and your friend to at least watch those two videos (as well follow up the source link of the info in the external text box in this post) first and then comment what holes you might still see in it ect.

I would encourage you to get Uriah Smith's book as well, it is very good and just $2!!!

I'm confused as to how you can accept Jesus and the beast related items from Revelation, and then turn around and deny a large portion of the rest of the New Testament that outright says the day you take Sabbath does not matter.

By doing so, you invalidate your own faith, as you can't just take bits and pieces of the NT. You accept one part, you have to accept all of it, otherwise you're just being a false prophet.

Again, see Colossians 2:13-17 and Romans 14:1-8. The Bible, not man, not what you *think*, and not what the Vatican or any other earthly authority says is the authority on these topics. How can you be so blind?

Preamble...
Seventh-day Adventists believe their movement arose as prophetic fulfillment in 1844...
...based on an interpretation of 2300 days of Daniel 8:14 that for no internal reason they convert to years.

The SDA do not have the truth of God in them, but the 7th day is God's eternal Sabbath to be kept by His people forever.

Question...
Can any SDA show how a Julian calendar Saturday, Sabbath and Passover can coincide in 31 AD?

In 31 AD (the year Christ died on a pole/stake) The day of Passover (sunset at the end of the 13th to sunset at the end of the 14th of Abib) began at sunset on a Tuesday. The "Last supper" was not just the last meal Christ eat of, it was the actual Passover meal (required to be kept by God's command) begining after sunset on Tuesday night.

Then all through the night and into the daylight portion of the day of Passover (non-High day) Jesus Christ first institued the new covenent through Passover (body and blood of Christ for the remission of sins rather then the sacrifice of a lamb for the remission of sins) then he actually lived the Passover sacrifice during the daylight portions of Passover (Wednesday before sunset).

Jesus Christ as the "first-born", "lamb" of God, "without blemish"(sin), "who takes away the sins of the world" was sacrificed by God for us on the EXACT day of the year which represented this event in the Old Testament.

He died on the pole/stake right before the sunset ending the day portion of Passover. The day after Passover is the first High Holy Day of the calendar year (the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread). This is why Jesus Christ was stabbed in order for him to die sooner allowing the jews killing him to keep their Holy Day properly by not working during it, this is where most fall off the truth, it was not for the weekly Sabbath that the soldier rushed the killing on a pole/stake that is why the world believes Jesus died on a Friday (Good Friday) it was the High Holy Day (also called a Sabbath) that began at sunset on Wednesday.

Jesus Christ was buried just before sundown on Wednesday at the very end of the day of Passover perfectly fulfiling all that is contained in that day. He was dead and in the tomb for the exact same amount of time as Jonah was in the belly of the great fish (72 hours/3 day and 3 nights).

Wednesday sunset to Thursday sunset = 24 hours/1 day
Thursday sunset to Friday sunset = 48 hours/2 days
Friday sunset to Saturday sunset = 72 hours/3 days and 3 nights

Jesus Christ was resurrected to everlasting life at the very end of the weekly Sabbath day (Saturday).

Notice when the women arrived at the tomb the angels tell them "he has risen" this is better understood as "he has already risen" as the tense is clearly past tense in the greek being used in this scripture.

Notice also Jesus Christ still had to be recieved of God before any were aloud to touch him Sunday Morning. But later on that same afternoon he allowed the apostles to touch him (meaning he was recieved sometime from the morning and the afternoon) by God.

The Wafe Sheif Offerring

This offerring was given in the Old Testament and it was when the high priest would offer up to God the First of the Firstfruits of the spring harvest before God and no one could partake of the harvest until the first fruit was recieved by God. This event always occured the day after the weekly Sabbath that falls within the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

The amazing and beautiful truth to this matter is as follows:

Jesus Christ changed the observance of Passover from physical sacrifice (for no lamb can compare to the perfect sacrifice of God's lamb Jesus) to spiritual (body and blood of Jesus), His blood spilled to the Earth, He was hung on a stake/pole and died fully; ALL ON THE DAY OF PASSOVER!

He was dead and in the tomb for EXACTLY 3 days and 3 nights and was resurrected to immortal spiritual life at the end of the weekly 7TH DAY SABBATH!

He was recieved as the first of the firstfruits of salvation on the EXACT DAY it is pictured by the ritual of the wafe sheif offerring.

God is perfect and His son perfectly fulfilled the Passover sacrife for mankind's sins.

God Bless,

Indeed, they don't have the truth, however the day you observe a Sabbath doesn't matter. See the New Testament. It doesn't matter if you take the 7th, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 4th, 2nd, or 6th day.

Mark 2:27

Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath."

Our worship and praise on the Sabbath is fine, but we should be doing the same daily anyway. It's just meant as a day of rest for us and our well being - spiritually, mentally, and physically.

There is a saying, "The devil is in the detail". There is only one thing you need to take from the bible, and that is to love one another. Thats it, anything else is surplus to requirements, and only serves to enslave people through ignorance, fear and superstition.

I have already answered this in an earlier post on this thread. I have already expressly covered the Colossians 2:16 argument there and provide a website that refute 17 other common arguments through thorough analysis on contexts ect.

Follow up the links then try and refute them.
- Colossians 2:14-16: The Sabbath a shadow? Which Sabbath?
- Romans 14: Any day can be a Sabbath?

I will re-post this again as it is very important, anyone wishing to refute the theology should first go this the following website and read their analysis and see if there is any holes in it still.
adventist-defense-league.blogspot.com.au...

-Argument 1: Galatians 4:21-31: The law is bondage?
-Argument 2: Colossians 2:14-16: The Sabbath a Shadow? Which Sabbath?
-Argument 3: 1 Corinthians 16:1-3: Sunday church collection?
-Argument 3: 1 Corinthians 16:1-3: Sunday church collection?
-Argument 4: Romans 10:4: Christ is the end of the law?
-Argument 5: Hebrews 3 and 4: Does today replace the Seventh day?
-Argument 6: 2 Corinthians 3:7-11: The glory of the law abolished?
-Argument 7: Romans 7: Dead to the Law? Which law?
-Argument 8: Romans 14: Any day can be a Sabbath?
-Argument 9: Genesis 2:1-3: The Sabbath not in Genesis?
-Argument 9: Genesis 2:1-3: The Sabbath not in Genesis?
-Argument 10: Acts 20:7: Sunday church service?
-Argument 11: 1 John 3:4: Sin is the transgression of which law?
-Argument 12: Jeremiah 3:14-17: Proof the 10 Commandments are abolished?
-Argument 13: Isaiah 66:23: New Moon observance?
-Argument 14: Joshua 10:2-13: Sun stood still changed the Sabbath?
-Argument 15: Acts 13: Did Paul keep the Sabbath?
-Argument 16: Revelation 1:10: Is Sunday the Lord's Day?
-Argument 17: Amos 8: A prophecy that pointed to Sabbath abolishment?
-Argument 18: Mark 2:27: Was the Sabbath made for Adam and Eve?

You don't have all the major protestant churches saying in their official statements of theology that they have no leg (scriptural basis) to stand on in not following the 4th commandment if they really didn't have any solid foundation. All the statements from the Catholic church are not based on hot air, they know the scriptures very well and they are telling protestants plainly they have no argument in not following the Sabbath (Friday sun-down to Saturday sun-own) if they believe their sole authority is the Bible.

If you think you have found verses that appear at the surface to refute this then likely you have not read fully to see the correct meaning like all the protestant church authorities and catholic church authorities have admitted to.

I am not' invalidating my own faith' or 'deny a large portion of the rest of the New Testament that outright says the day you take Sabbath does not matter', you are just citing passages you don't properly understand.

But you still think that the Roman Saturday is the same as Israel's seventh day Sabbath...
...when it can be clearly demonstrated that it is not.

The original Sabbath given to Israel was determined by the lunar cycle.

Here is a summary of the first three months of the Exodus that show a sequence of Sabbaths impossible using a successive week like that of the Julian/Gregorian calendar we use now...

Exodus 12 - First Month in a Row - The Exodus

At the time of the first Passover, and every year after that, Passover was fixed to the 14th of the First Month (Abib/Nisan), which was also fixed to the sixth day of the week. The first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread was fixed to the 15th, which was always fixed to the seventh-day Sabbath (Leviticus 23: 4-16). This made the Sabbaths for the First Month (Abib) of each year to be consistently fixed to the 8th, 15th, 22nd, and the 29th.

Exodus 16 - Second Month in a Row - The Manna

One month after the Exodus from Egypt, manna was given each morning for six days, but not on the Sabbath day. The very first Sabbath that followed the first six days was the 22nd lunar calendar date, counting from the New Moon. This fixed the other Sabbaths for that month fall on the 8th, 15th and 29th (Exodus 16).

Exodus 19 - Third Month in a Row - The Mountain

Commencing the Third Month, on the precise anniversary of the Exodus from Egypt at night, Israel was led by the pillar of fire by night, to the foot of Mt. Sinai. It was in the Third Month, on the very same lunar calendar date of the 15th, after the sacred Sabbath hours were past (Deuteronomy 16:1; Numbers 33:3; Exodus 19:1-2).

This demonstrates that for three lunar months in a row the Sabbath was located on the same consistent lunar calendar dates. Strong evidence for this is found in the criteria of the count to Pentecost, as detailed in Leviticus 23:15-22, as it relates to the lunisolar calendar. This Feast is consistently fixed to the 9th lunar calendar date of the Third Month, which is fixed to the first day of the week. While Israel was not given the details of the count to Pentecost until after the Third Month had already passed, the criteria could be utilized to illustrate that indeed the Sabbath was to be located on the 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th for yet this third month-in-a-row (Exodus 19:1).

It is never possible to achieve three identical months-in-a-row when utilizing the Roman Gregorian calendar, which all the world currently uses to identify their worship days. Fifteen hundred years later, Pentecost, on which the Holy Spirit fell on the waiting disciples, was also fixed to the 9th of the Third Month, and the first day of the week.

It is impossible to achieve consistent lunar calendar dates with the Roman Gregorian calendar.

The SDA church has officially recognized this since at least 1938.

On November 7, 1938, the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists appointed a Research Committee to investigate discrepancies in calendation.

The committee was comprised of SDA luminaries...

The Chair was Elder L. E. Froom, Secretary Dr. Lynn Harper Wood and committee members Dr. M. L. Andreasen, Professor M. E. Kern, Professor W. Homer Teesdale, Professor Albert W. Werline, Elder F. C. Gilbert and Miss Grace Amadon.

www.creationcalendar.com...

The report was delivered July, 9, 1939...
...present were all the General Conference members available, plus all the Union Presidents in the U.S., Bible teachers, Ministers and many others...
...the report started at 9:30 A.M. and the meeting ended about 10:00 P.M.

It was not done in a corner and all the issues were well understood...
...and the implications realized but it was decided not to trouble the church with it...
...so the paradox was allowed to continue unresolved.

There is no basis for the Sunday/Sabbath debate with the RC's and claiming Sunday is the Mark of the Beast because Saturday is not the original Sabbath of Israel.

And if the ETs come, it will be the Christians who shoot at them and call them demons. I have a preacher that lives down the road from me, and he told me he already took shots at a UFO last year, and told me it was "Satan's Demons" no Aliens. Your solution would not work for an SDA though...
...they require that Jesus was resting in the tomb on Sabbath 15th Abib/Nisan...
...which they insist was a Saturday in 31 AD.

I appreciate your sincere reply and did forward it to my friend to read also.

For me,I found all of what you are putting forth to be very plausible, until I examined what is appears to not be saying.
In my opinion, there is a very real power in the world today that is never included in the vast amount of prophecies,(at least as far as I can tell),and that is the role of Zionism, and I mean the political force of it and it's influence over nations,etc...

It's a subject that is difficult to talk about without being labeled "anti-semitic". Clever tactic,if ya ask me.

Anyhow,I think you are very bright and honestly believe what you are saying, and I don't think our differences of opinion are a matter of salvation.

By the way,I,too,am a Sabbath-Keeper,but just not of the official SDA church. I know many who claim EGW is the "real deal",and I can't say they are wrong, but I myself am not going to put her up on a pedestal as a prophet. She herself claimed to not want to be called on either, from what I understand.

Personally,I can find no reason to not want to obey the commandments, but I can also see how others might see the New Testament as advocating the need not to keep them. I say let each one pray for guidance and be led by the Spirit to do as they understand to be true, but also being careful not to just pick and choose what feels the best or is the easiest road to take.

I believe there is blessing to be had from obedience to God,but it took me a long time to come to that decision, and it meant giving up many of my old ways to do so, However,I don't feel God loved me any less before I made that decision. This may very well be a "salvation issue",but I will leave that up to God to decide,as only He can judge the heart.

Thanks for your time!

Hasn't the answer got something to do with the Hebrew year being considered only 360 days long, that their 'months' aren't the same period of time as kept for the Julian/Gregorian calendars? The Hebrew year date is rather different from the Gregorian one, right?

Can any SDA show how a Julian calendar Saturday, Sabbath and Passover can coincide in 31 AD?

Not too tricky after all....what needs to be understood is that the 'Last Supper' was conducted a day earlier than when the major part of the Jewish nation held Passover and that Passover is a 'High-Sabbath'. Not only did Jesus 'rest' on the High-Sabbath on that Wednesday night which is then the start of the Passover of Nisan 15 (according to the old calendar system used by the Galilean's that counted each day going from 'evening to evening', rather that the Judean system of 'morning to morning'.

The explanation is a bit complicated because you have these two different recording systems of days. An example of this is the weekly Sabbath-day which people will readily say is Saturday, technically though it is Friday sun-down to Saturday sun-down.

On the Tuesday in the evening (so therefore technically the start of the next day known as the Day of Preparation) Jesus and his disciples celebrate the Passover 'Last Supper' one day early. The Day of Preparation of the Galilean's therefore goes from Tuesday night to Wednesday night and Passover (High-Sabbath, John 19:31) proper would start Wednesday night to Thursday night.

John clearly states that the Jews had not eaten the Passover meal, even though it was the morning after Jesus’ arrest. John 18:28 says: "Then the Jews led Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor. By now it was early morning, and to avoid ceremonial uncleanness the Jews did not enter the palace; they wanted to be able to eat the Passover." John 19:14 says that the day during which Jesus was crucified was only the "Preparation [day] of Passover Week." By John’s reckoning, Jesus ate the Last Supper meal one day earlier than the Jews ate the Passover meal.
...
This would mean that Jesus and the disciples, strictly speaking, did not eat the Passover meal at the Last Supper. It’s interesting that lamb is not mentioned as being part of the meal. If Jesus ate the "Passover meal" one day earlier than the Jews did, he simply disregarded tradition. That in itself would be instructive, indicating that his meal represented a break with old covenant institutions.

Pesach 3791: 31 A.D. Tmeline

Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Jesus is buried right at sunset on the Wednesday (therefore 'resting' on the high-sabbath of Passover). He is then 'resting' all the way up to Saturday sunset. Technically he keeps 2 Sabbaths, the Passover sabbath and the weekly Sabbath. On the Sunday the tomb is found empty at 'early dawn', 'while it was still dark' (Matthew 28:1-10; Mark 16:1-8; Luke 24:1-12; and John 20:18).

Your two passages of Ellen White in the Desire of Ages 'In Joseph's Tomb' chapter 80, are referring to two different Sabbaths that Jesus rested both while being in the tomb.

I already posted this link on Shadow Sabbaths before but it clearly points out that the important Jewish festival days were known as Sabbaths as well.

In brief, these were the yearly ceremonial days observed and associated sabbaths.
Spring Calendar:
Passover, The crucifixion, Jesus is God's Passover Lamb.
Feast of Unleavened Bread (Pilgrimage to Jerusalem required for all men.) Putting away sin from one's life.
Sabbath of 15 Nisan, 1st day of the feast.
The Omer, first fruits of the barley harvest, 16 Nisan. Resurrection.
Sabbath of 21 Nisan, 7th and last day of the feast.
Feast of Weeks - Pentecost, a sabbath day 50 days after the Omer (Pilgrimage to Jerusalem required for all men.) Firstfruits of the wheat harvest. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

Therefore 1260 literal years of rule (42 month Revelation 13:5 equals 1260 days), 538 A.D - 1798 A.D.

Therefore strong scriptural basis for 2300 days = years finishing in 1844 for when Jesus went from the Holy Place to the Most Holy in the Heavenly sanctuary to begin the Investigative Judgement

I hope I have answered all your concerns properly....looking forward to your response
