Seriously? Of course domestic violence goes on in America, no one is disputing this.
You do know if your "Christian" husband beats you in America that you can actually go to the police for help, right?
I know someone personally who had this happen to her, but, he was no "Christian". Police were awesome by the way, she had her day in court. Do you think most women in Egypt or Saudi Arabia have their justice or day in court?

go look at the horrible beating on video in Eygypt were that poor woman was stomped on during these political protests. If you think the Muslim Brotherhood will do much about them, I suggest you research their ideology a bit more.

Maybe you should do the same. A picture is worth a thousand words.
Women stand amongst men as supporters of Muslim Brotherhood's presidential candidate Mohamed Morsy celebrate his victory of the election at Tahrir Square in Cairo June 24, 2012. Islamist Mohamed Morsy was declared Egypt's first freely elected president
www.daylife.com...
Actually an equal number of Egyptian women as men voted for the Brotherhood and this is why they won the election despite what the military wanted.
The Brotherhood are a political party founded on Muslim principles. Egyptian women are Muslims and they husbands and son who are Muslims.
Claiming that Egyptian women are against the Brotherhood because of its Islamic principles is an attempt by the zionist media to discredit a lawfully elected government of a nation that you, the US and Israel have no business meddling with or insulting.
You will have to learn to lump it hard on this matter.

Since Christianity, Islam and the Hebrew religion all were created by the sons of Abraham, then why can't we be brothers with our brethren in the Middle East and why can't they be brothers with us? We are all family, so what asshole started the war between our religions? That's what needs to be figured out! We should have been a close knit family exploring the stars by now, but instead we are banging our heads against the wall over a war against our brothers that should never have taken place! Wake the # up WORLD and open your #ing eyes and mind for just once!

Great you know this so by your logic, Christian American men beat the living day lights out of women to get them to do what they want.
You do know if your "Christian" husband beats you in America that you can actually go to the police for help, right?
Same thing in Egypt. If a man beats his wife she can report to the police, her family and then divorce him instantly.
I know someone personally who had this happen to her, but, he was no "Christian". Police were awesome by the way, she had her day in court. Do you think most women in Egypt or Saudi Arabia have their justice or day in court?
No doubt that lady was very lucky but we only have your word on that. The abuse of women in the US is phenomenal. In or out of marriage, American society devastates women on so many levels. I read somewhere that there is a woman is raped every two minutes in the US. And what about women in the military; rape is an occupational hazard.
We are talking about Egypt and you mention Saudi. So if you are going to play fast and loose with discourse, then let us look at the international sex slave trade. The biggest importers of sex slaves to the prostitution industry in the world are all Christian, Western and 'liberated' societies such as the US.
Most Muslims I know are outraged by the ill treatment of women and when creatures like you level accusations at Muslim, I think you are hypocrites.
Wondering, though... Why did you bring "Christianity" into this. No one said anything about Christianity.

I don't like that expression because it is a dumb meme.

Did it really happen or is it more anti Egyptian garbage meant to discredit the Brotherhood for something they had nothing to do with?

Yep you're right, we have plenty of our own b.s. to go around in this country, can't deny that. But the thread is about discussing a new president who with all appearances, is going follow stricter islamic practice, including, Isreal bashing. Someone in his cabinet made this speech. He does not appear ready to make reforms in the interest of peace, or , peoples rights irrespective of Islam. I am not messing with anybody, nor do I want war with anyone in the middle east. As a matter of fact, I want our soldiers home, you can't change that part of the world, there will always be war and violence whether we are there are not.

But, hey, I live in a free country, and have the right to discuss this subject on this forum, and I feel for the women of Eygypt, I guess you don't.
www.washingtontimes.com...
Egypt’s likely next president has long called for the U.S. to hold a “scientific conference” to determine the real culprits of the Sept. 11 attacks, having cast doubt on al Qaeda’s role in 9/11 for years.
“The U.S. administration has never presented any evidences on the identity of those who committed that incident,” longtime Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohamed Morsi is quoted as saying in a 2007 posting on Ikhwanweb, the Islamist group’s official English website.

History most certainly repeats itself just like Germany got knocked down twice only to have a 60 years of US presence.
The west has been in the middle east for over 100 years and still is messed up as it has ever been.edit on 24-6-2012 by neo96 because: (no reason given)
Since Christianity, Islam and the Hebrew religion all were created by the sons of Abraham, then why can't we be brothers with our brethren in the Middle East and why can't they be brothers with us?
Central to the mythos of the war on terror is the political independence of the Islamic world. But, as I and others have pointed out on many occasions, the Islamic Ummah is coming into political being because it is a goal of the ruling elites of both the Western world and the Islamic world to have a clash of civilizations. Secular, democratic, and liberal forces in the Islamic world have been marginalized and destroyed in our era. This is what happened in Iran in 1979, and the same model of political change has been repeated in Egypt, Libya, and Syria in 2011-2012. And none of this is by accident or chance. The political destinies of these societies are being directed by anti-democratic and anti-peace forces that want to see Islamic civilization at odds with the West for the foreseeable future. The Daily Bell explained why this is happening on January 25, 2012: "The elites need war and we've noted many times that the countries they've destabilized in Africa and the Middle East are mostly secular ones – and the replacements are bound to be Islamic. Thus, we can see the formation of a kind of Islamic crescent that can only increase world tensions should the Anglosphere elites and their bought-and-paid-for mainstream media wish to position these increasingly Islamic regimes as part of a unified Western opposition.
What Middle Eastern Muslim millions in the West? I don't think there are that many in the West.
