So they have the past year and a half if that much, if it was even worth it's weight in thought, it's a show boat tactic to garner google ad sense money. Bout all I can tell, clever though, very clever.

Could that link you provide be a little trap? It's fairly certain anyone going there is doing so because they are worried!!!
Its an easy way to collect the IP of those who consider they might be guilty. All they have to do then is contact the isp of those foolish enough to visit the link. IMO.edit on 23-6-2012 by VoidHawk because: (no reason given)

within a short few years we could be seeing 3D printers that could make anything from clothes to electronics and all you have to do is download the schematics (and pay for them of course), if this is actually as close as predicted then they certainly wouldnt want us to download these schematics 'illegaly' would they
Allot of people have access to software like autocad that can make these models. So there should be quiet a bit of free "schematics".
ISPs are currently up in arms over being asked to pay 25% of the costs of establishing a system for sending out warning letters under the Digital Ecomony Act, with ISPs hinting that costs of the scheme would be passed on to customers.
Suren Ter-Saakov · Top Commenter Eric, we don't bother ourselves to separate dynamic IPs. The site is just for show. However we have time-stamps. 3.3.3.3 might be a dynamic IP - however it belonged to a certain person at 12:12am 12/12/2011. Besides DHT allows us to get a user's machine fingerprint. So even if it's a dormitory... Reply · 194 · · December 10, 2011 at 9:49am
Ter-Saakov said he believes youhavedownloaded.com indexes about 20 percent of the file-sharing activity on the Internet. He maintains that the site was created merely as a proof-of-concept, and that it doesn’t have any commercial application.

although i see the OP's side of this...nobody yet has said anything about the actual creator of the content, being paid for his work. companies and/or individuals that provide products on the internet are entitled to be compensated. if you do not want to pay for that content, don't buy it. finding ways to download content that was never deemed to be free is simply stealing. why is this such a hard concept to understand?
the problem as i see it, as users, we are sometimes not privy to the fact that the content is protected, but, as with anything, common sense comes into play. taking a little time to verify that it is or isn't seems to be a reasonable course. with that said, the creators of that protected content should be able to easily provide that information.
