This might be a scam, but the original McPherson abduction video from 1989 has surfaced after being gone for many year, and it's for sale. Not to be confused with the remake from 1997 with payed actors. The original tape has become a somewhat of a mystery in the UFO community since all copies were very effeciently removed. If this is for real then we may be in for a real thriller as this is supposedly a real abduction back in 1989. He charges $500 USD, please don't pay someone without being sure he can deliver, lots of scammers out there. A good idea woul be to ask for a small preview that is not available anywhere online, if he has this then he might be legit, but $500 is still a lot of money, though...

Hello fellow "UFO Abduction" / "The McPherson Tape" (1989) fan / movie seeker! My name is Matt, & BOY ... DO I HAVE A TREAT FOR YOU TODAY! For the first time EVER on DVD, you can watch in horrific awe as "the McPhersons", a typical 1984 American family in the middle of celebrating their relative's 6th birthday party, undergo invasion, attack, & abduction by extra-terrestrials ... all the while, the unfolding nightmarish events are being miraculously filmed by the birthday girl's 16 y/o uncle, using his new video tape recorder. This "home video taped footage" is the ORIGINAL "The McPherson Tape" from 1989 (this is the purportedly real "footage" that 1998's UPN movie, "Alien Abduction: Incident In Lake County", was a remake of). Starting August 2012, this rare, currently out of production, "USA government seized", & nowhere to be found gem, can now be YOURS to own & cherish for the low price of $500.00/USD (I know, $500.00/USD probably sounds expensive to you, but considering the fact that I had to pay DOUBLE that amount to the undisclosed person who sold me my copy recently, I believe a $500.00/USD asking price [or ½ off] is actually a bargain, considering the "NOWHERE to be found" status of this little film.)! The citizen that leaked the complete "footage" & ended up selling me a DVD-R copy of it, wished to remain anonymous (and, per the individual's wishes, their identity will remain withheld). I am currently accepting pre-orders before the official August 2012 release date. If you would like to purchase a DVD-R copy of "UFO Abduction" (1989), please send me an email at "[email protected]" with the following shipping information: * Your full name * Your street address * Your preferred email address where I can best contact you at (for billing / shipping enquiries only) * (((OPTIONAL))) A preferred telephone number that I can best contact you at [for billing / shipping enquiries only, IF contact can not be established through your email address] * I ONLY accept CHECKS / MONEY ORDERS for payment. * I DO NOT accept credit / debit card transactions or cash for payment (please DO NOT email me your credit / debit card information; if you email me any of your card details, that specific email will be deleted promptly!). * Please make your CHECK / MONEY ORDER ($500.00/USD) payable to: MATTHEW B. WARD, 6102 CALENDAR CT W, LAKELAND, FL 33812-4363, USA * Thank you * If you have ANY questions, please do not hesitate to send me an email at "[email protected]" regarding your enquiry (enquiries will MOST LIKELY be answered within 48 hours). ** REMEMBER: The official release date for "UFO Abduction" (1989) is August 1st, 2012, so ... pre-order your DVD-R copy WHILE YOU STILL HAVE TIME! ** ALL PURCHASABLE DVDS OF "UFO ABDUCTION" (1989) ARE DVD-R COPIES, ONLY; I DO NOT OWN OR SELL ANY BRAND NEW, FACTORY SEALED DVDS OF "UFO ABDUCTION" (1989), SORRY. RETURN POLICY: You are encouraged to return a defective DVD-R to me, in exchange for a brand new DVD-R copy, free of charge! I DO NOT ACCEPT ANY REFUNDS. I THANK YOU GREATLY FOR YOUR BUSINESS. MY HOPE IN PROVIDING YOU WITH THIS "UFO ABDUCTION" (1989) PURCHASING OPPORTUNITY, IS THAT YOU CAN & WILL HAVE A RARE, BEAUTIFULLY CRAFTED (& POSSIBLY AUTHENTIC), 1989 LOST TREASURE OF A FILM, PERSONALLY IN YOUR HANDS THAT YOU CAN SCRUTINIZE, SHARE, & ABOVE ALL ELSE ... "Effectively removed" except for the clips you can find online.

Sounds like a complete scam. I doubt this person owns the rights to it.

The director of both the original and remake has discussed the production of the films, here.

There is no way for me to be certain, but my better judgement screams that this is a hoax. This is probably some scammer trying to make a lot of quick cash. First of all, if someone had a video like this, why in the world would they sell it to this guy for a grand, when it is worth much, much more than that? There are other things that don't make sense either, and I think I am giving some good advice when I say that if anyone pays for this, they will never receive what they thought they were going to.

And why in the world would there be pre-orders when all he has to do is burn a copy of the DVD? That's stupid as well. Anyway, crap like this makes me sick, and I want to throw out certain allegations against certain people who seem to be behind this, but I cannot be certain...Therefore I will just say DON'T spend $500 on something like this that cannot be verified, and that logic dictates doesn't exist. And probably never has.

I tried to email the director many years ago to buy a copy but never got a reply, we dont know if it is really true that he directed the 1989 version. Personally I think that he did not, it's all part of the cover-up.

Before you start blaming the messenger (me) I saw a ATS user post it in old McPherson threads, and thought it deserved a thread of its own.

Certainly a possibility. I might contact the police department in the town that this supposed abduction occurred and request information somehow. Not sure exactly how I will be able to get info. Very well might have to actually go to the town, to its local library, and look at microfilm of newspapers to get anywhere... Would love to hear the police say, "Yes, we have missing persons reports for the family of the McPhersons" or "No, there never were any McPhersons" or "The McPhersons are fine and live at 152 Montgomery Blvd, you should stop by and ask them what they think of the video" or "We don't talk about the McPhersons any more" or...

The case is very intriguing. I suspect it to be what the alleged director said his initial vision was when starting the project: "the most realistic alien abduction film I had ever seen" (something to that effect).

Talking to the police would be the best way to find out for sure, for sure.

A few names sprung to mind when I read your link....

Apparently, someone -- much more crafty than myself -- had made an edited bootleg copy of my video and injected it into the UFO community, hyping it all the way to the 1993 International UFO Congress Convention where it brought the house down. A Lieutenant Colonel with 40 years military intelligence, who was on the panel at the convention, determined right there that the tape was real!

I was thinking Bob Dean, but it looks like old Wendelle Stevens was the 'expert.'

There's a presentation by Charlie Hicks in there too - that I would like to see.

This has been investigated several times and it is beyond a doubt that Dean Alioto directed the '89 version. Encounters, which ran from '95-'96, investigated and found it to be a film, even showing the child actors who played the aliens in costume.

But please, don't take my word for it. Ask any serious UFO research.

There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that the video shows a genuine incident.

That the video is rare is no surprise. It was not "removed" by anything other than a conspiracy of time and circumstances. It was made in '89, more or less as a demo reel for a young director, in a time long before the permanency of the internet. It was never meant for mass consumption and thus did not survive until now.

Unfortunately, the McPherson tape clips on YouTube from the show Encounters have had the most important part cut off -- the interview with Dead Alioto, where he talks about the production and provides stills of the actors, including the children who play the aliens.

(emphase by me)

The director of the original, as the story goes, would be a then 16-year-old kid who was filming his little niece's birthday party. The original, if it exists or has ever existed, is no staged production of any sort. The original cannot have any sort of "director".

Agreed. The '89 version was also a remake of an actual event filmed by that teen. The '89 version is, if I can say so, the original remake. The only original, again, is the unstaged, unprepared, undirected filmed VHS tape recorded by that teen.

If it ever existed.

The McPhersons case may simply not be a case. There exists a chance that it really happened, but I have not been able (has anyone been ?) to find anything on such a story, other than the multiple versions of staged videos depicting the events. There are actually far more chances that such an event never really happened.

Nevertheless, and back on the subject of this post, it is likely to be a scam, so don't buy this copy. Why not try to check the name & address that the seller gives ?

[Edited to add the following:]
I just ran a (very quick) check on the seller.

All I know is that I would REALLY like to see it now, fake or not, because there has been so many ATS threads and mystery surrounding it. In fact, it would be cool if it IS real, but it is cool even if fake.

For some reason I'm inclined to believe Dean Alioto didn't direct the 1989 version of this.

First, I can't find his birth year anywhere online to see how old he would've been when it was released. Not his bio page on his own website, not his myspace page, nowhere. :/

Second, his IMDB profile says he made the Alien Abduction: Incident in Lake County version, but says nothing about the 1989 version. While there is info on IMDB about the 1989 version, his name is absent. His website's bio page doesn't even mention the 1989 version, only the remake...the TV movie, as he calls it. His Resume portion of the website doesn't mention it either.

Now, I'm not one to plop 500 dollars down on something I can't be sure of, and I've seen the bits of the 1989 version on youtube, as well as the new one, which was called a "docudrama" most everywhere it's been discussed.

I'm really interested in seeing the whole film, but paying 500 dollars for a burned copy of a movie that I can't even be sure exists in its entirety is a bit out of hand.

The user was probably banned for hocking his wares on ATS. My posts got removed when I tried to plug my podcast in my intro thread, so I understand why repeatedly posting that I'm selling something here would end in a ban, understandably.

Matt, as I'm going to call him, has a few videos on youtube under the same username as his account here. He only shows clips in those videos that are available elsewhere on the internet. He also spams every video of this on youtube including the remake with the exact same message.

TL;DR
I don't know what to make of this.

wow - now you only want to scalp people for USD 250 , not 500 - how generous of you

PS - before you are banned again - please explain in 10 words or less - why this alledged dvd-r copy of an alledged tape has any value ?

edit - damm - note to self - toy with the hoaxer before sending an alert to the ATS staff - not afterwards - they work fast
