(2 combined posts below) This whole story needs to be told in its entirety, I think. So yes I combined these two posts from other threads that I have made.

I can tell you that I gave up my religious beliefs when doing more research into religion in my opinion it's done more harm than good, but that's just me, I just hate organized religion. I have read the complete Bible and even though I may not agree with all of it's contents I respect those who do. I live by Jesus' message, not his miracles. I look at the bible's stories for inspiration not factual truth.

Now, for other 90% of my beliefs which is where I align myself with conservative republicans on. I actually do not know how I came to this point. I studied conspiracy theories at a very early age (13) and believed a lot of them. I was naive and young. I started watching the news a lot. Yes, Fox frankly because I cannot stand how the liberal media props Obama up on a pedestal. However, my favorite reporter on Fox News is Sheppard Smith. A liberal gay man. My favorite Analyzer is of course, Bill O'reilly. For his bluntness.

So I was a moderate independent all of early my life. I registered republican in 2008 and voted for Mitt Romney in the primaries, frankly because I didn't know who Ron Paul was. Keeping up with my somewhat waning conspiracy theory ways, I didn't vote at all in the 2008 election. I had heard of Romney first! Go figure. I thought McCain was too military friendly for my liking and if he was in office right now we would be well on our way into WWIII. However, the economy would be booming! That's inevitable tho and Obama is not doing a very good job at "diplomacy" as he likes to call it. It's more avoiding war at all costs. And I will never vote for a democrat. Maybe a moderate democrat back then....

What got me first about Obama was when he did his First State of the Union(?) Speech at the Military base and the soldiers were falling asleep!!!!! I started seeing lies in the Obama administration everywhere and everything that he blames everyone else for. I was starting to feel some sympathy for Bush who I thought was a pretty good President and didn't really understand or unconsciously care at that point in time why the liberal media bashed him for everything he said. To this day, they still do.

I was a strong supporter of both Herman Cain and Jon Huntsman. Huntsman filled the gaps of where Cain didn't know crap about Foreign Affairs. When they dropped out I moved onto....Drum Roll Please.....RON PAUL!!!! I supported Ron Paul up until I actually talked to other Ron Paul supporters and realized what was happening in that camp was a lot of the same things that was happening in the Obama camp, which I outline on a thread here. Called Libertarians are not Republicans. Now remember this was 8 years after I had first researched and gave up on my research of crazy conspiracy theories. Talking to some of those people I realized how crazy I must have sounded to my tea party parents, talking about Big Brother and Aliens...

OWS came and I in so growing with my new founded Republican Centrist views I thought it was the most stupidest radical idea that didn't accomplish anything! People all over this conspiracy message board that I belonged to, were saying this was IT!!!! THIS IS WHEN WE WILL TAKE DOWN THE MAN!!!! Remember, I had researched all of this stuff eight years ago, so I was quite well versed in what the conspiracy theorists were raving on about. I asked questions to my independent and liberal friends that they brushed off, like connections to KKK and NAZI parties and how come OWS couldn't even handle $500,000 in a so called resource-based economy that they ran in their camps? Why could they claim public property as their own? You know simple questions like that. I think OWS really solidified my view points for me and really moved me farther right than I ever was before.

Mitt Romney is beating Obama up in fundraising donations and speeches. He has the guts and now the power behind him to take on Obama's money in 2012.Romney will give him one heck of a fight, especially since he keeps messing up. So yes, I guess you can say my political compass was created out of extreme dislike of two other groups. I chose the lesser of two evils. And to me the republicans are more tolerant than the Obama people and definitely the Ron Paul people.
I have been asked countless times why I support Mitt Romney. So prove me wrong.
Do you vote on the economy? What issues are important to you?
Do you vote on social issues? Why?

I don't vote on social issues alone, I vote on economic issues. Now, of course one will argue that since government affects social issues and social issues affect the economy, I actually am voting on social issues.

Call me heartless and cruel, but I don't really care about the social impact of the economics. I study the economic plans of each of the candidates and vote on the one that will pass through Congress and which will hopefully as they claim will pass the budget. Mitt Romney's plan will reasonably pass congress. Obama's will and has not. My choice is clear. The icing on the cake here is that Obama's social policies are enough in the extreme leftist direction to get me pissed off at him forever.

Bill Clinton however, is the one democrat that I can actually admire for working with republicans on economic issues and I may even have voted for him. Setting aside the affair thing. Honestly, Bill Clinton worked with Republicans to balance the budget. But he banged an intern and his record is shunned forever…I think Republicans just use this to attack Clinton because that’s all they’ve got. You have Obama blaming Bush for all his mistakes, and people actually believe him because Bush was pretty bad in his second term… I could see Clinton’s leadership abilities. But I wouldn't have voted for Carter, McCain, or Obama, I don't see real leadership qualities in them. Reagan and Kennedy had amazing leadership qualities and I believe Romney is blossoming and has already surpassed Obama by getting the majority of the GOP behind him (not the extreme tea party or Ron Paulities unfortunately). When they were so unsure of who the GOP wanted to try to stop Obama, Romney like mid 1990s Microsoft stayed in the background allowed the others to topple over each other and finished on top. The primary was exciting to watch. I saw a few leadership qualities in Jon Huntsman and a tiny bit in Herman Cain. That is how I vote!

Will I be mad at Romney if he messes up? Sure. Will I criticize him? You bet, in fact I already have. If Romney's economy sucks there is little I can do to help out except to just keep on pushing through my own life and help those around me. Besides for voting on my issues/conscious, what more can I do?

You’re not going to like every President and you’re not going to be pro-everything. People thinking that the world will fall into their own little ideologies will always end up disappointed and angry, so I decide to find the positive in life. Because yes, there are things I do not like about Mitt Romney.

What I look for MOST in a candidate is if the person truly has the best interest of the country in mind. ie: not going to bend to the whims of a few for personal gain.

To me, we need a true philanthropist......period!!!

I guess the answer depends on where you want the country to go... as of now it is headed over a cliff, can anyone deny it? I suppose if it is a simple fight of Obama vs Romney.. whom are both Establishment picks you would have to choose whether you wanted to go over the cliff sooner rather than later. If I pick Obama it is his last four years and he would rush to impliment all those things that would make America fall. Or if you chose Romney he would do the same thing but slower.... because it is his first term and he is just a little bit different than obama.

Well either way your eating a poop sandwich, I suppose if there is no hope I would rather get the show on the road, I'm young now if I'm going to have to deal with the fall of america I'd rather be at the very least healthy.

If Ron Paul doesn't make it, I'm voting for Obama. F romney and the republican establishment. I think obama is a liar and a criminal... but i believe the same thing of romney.

The Establishment doesn't care who gets the White House all they care about is power. Its about Healthcare, and the destruction of the constitution... I would bet anyone a hundred bucks if romney wins healthcare stays.. the government never returns power they take.

Unless we TURN AROUND... do people get this.. turn completely around and go the opposite way America is going to fall. It can be done, just not with the same old establishment people in the government. There needs to be a revolution and the people need to take control.

Politics, politically.........................ehhhh means nothing!! Seriously, I am being honest! Politics is what has ruined the world that all of humanity lives in!!

We are all human beings and we are in this together whether we like it or not! I am sick and tired of the priveleged who are born into wealthy families getting positons of power to further their families fortunes and gains PERIOD!

I see people on ATS label politics and theories of politics, ie Imperialist, Communist, Socialist, Democrat, Republican, etc etc I could go on and on until I am out of characters for the post......................

Bottom line, we are still a Feudalistic society, where those who are born into power are STILL in power and us little folk (slaves) don't have a damn thing to say about it!

How about a "Human Party"? You know, one that doesn't allow special interests, corporations, the wealthy, the "entitled" etc. that just allows people to be who they are and based upon their ability it merits what they accomplish, instead of riding on mums and dads coatails to become a power in the world just because of who you were born too????

Last I heard was that Shep Smith was a conservative anchorman on a conservative news network who is married to Virginia Donald, a female.

That being said, what I look for politically is someone who is steadfast in their views, yet flexible and able to adapt to whatever situations that may arise. The candidate must transcend political ideology, as those ideologies limit political growth. If I have the ideology of a screwdriver, I can't pound in a nail as well as a hammer. If I have a hammer, everything looks like a nail, even a tree that must be cut down. Sometimes it takes liberal policies, sometimes conservative policies, sometimes, GOD FORBID, socialist policies.

Basically I want a politician who cringes at the thought of being a politician. Since this is an impossibility in America, I don't look toward politicians for anything.

American politics is no better than a circus. This nation is a joke.

I want to see a politician take reasonable practical steps to solve problems. All we get out of both parties are two extreme positions that just seem suicidal for our country.

On our debt burden: I want to see the extremely rich taxed more. How is it fair that the Walton heirs make several hundred million a year each while half their employees qualify for food stamps. You see that means the public is getting screwed over twice. First the employer is reaping insane profits at the expense of the hard working employee, then the other tax payers foot the bill to help support the poor worker. In a way that is welfare for the elite isn't it. We all get to pay part of the salary of hard working people so the rich don't have to hurt themselves paying a living wage for a hard days' work.

I want to see reasonable cuts to both the military and social programs. Not one or the other, but both! Throw some folks off welfare benefits and close a few military bases overseas.

I want to see resolution on the immigration thing. Either let them stay or run them out. I don't care, but for goodness sakes don't let them keep coming in.

I want to see my environment protected, but I don't want to see the economy ruined for it. Drill for the oil, but spend the money to find ways to ween ourselves off of it in the very near future so that my local river doesn't get polluted because some oil company is trying to cut corners to increase some rich guys dividends. Nothing pisses me off worse than when some politician (who honestly has little technical knowledge about anything other than telling lies with a nice smile) tells me that that is a stupid and unworkable idea, then I turn my tv on to find out that Germany is producing half its electricity from solar power.

I want to see every american have health care. You can't tell me it can't be done because lots of countries are doing it. Quite a few are doing it better than we are, for cheaper. "But I don't want the government running my healthcare." Well, duhhh, your for profit insurance company already is running your healthcare, ya idgit! Sure you got a choice. Find another job with another provider.

Why should medicare be privatized? So more rich people can get their grubby hands in the pie? No, keep it like it is, but fix it. Stopping that 10% fraud rate would be a start. And why should a specialist doctor earn a half million a year looking at my prostate when the woman teaching my kid to read and the cop getting shot at earn 35k?

I want the federal government out of my life as much as possible. It is none of your business what I'm eating. Go pick on monsanto and their terror crops if you want to fix my food. Leave my unpastuerized milk the heck alone. Get those drones out of my sky. Heres an idea. Instead of gathering all the taxes and then redistributing it to the states with strings attached, why don't you get your hands off of it and let the states do the taxing. They can do things however they want with that tax money. If I don't like it I can visit my state congressman 3 miles up the road or move to the next state over.

Get out of my 5 year olds education. Help the students go to college though with some loans and grants. For gods sake shut down those junk for profit schools whose degrees count for nothing and whose graduates default on their loans at twice the rate of public and non profit schools. Don't give loans or grants to students who are doomed to fail, cuz you'll never get our tax money back. Half those who start college drop out. If they struggled to get a C average in high school then they get nothing until they can prove themselves through a few semesters of college.
If we have too many graduates then make college harder. Weed out the weakest from the university system instead of not helping the smart ones out. In doing these things we can help students and guarantee ourselves a return on our investments by A) getting our money back, and B) turning out only very good graduates who have an excellent chance of making something of themselves for their sake and societys sake.

I have a lot more, but I'll just leave it at that.

-More restrictions on the financial world (but fewer on small business: see below)
-Stronger worker's rights and more job security/opportunity/protection for labor in general

2) Conservative ideas I agree with:
-Bolstering traditional culture over multiculturalism in education, and in general culture. An end to the culture of Hollywood depravity and filth would be nice, too, but this is not something that can be achieved by politicians , I am afraid.
-Fewer restricting regulations and taxes on small business (but more reigining in of the big financial dawgs...see above). More tax incentives and regulatory slack for entrepreneurs and local-level businesspeople.
-Keep firearms free
-Less government intrusion in general (except for where finance is concerned)

I'd also like to see illegal immigration curbed, which is something neither party seems interested in doing.

A very reasonable view. There is nothing worse to me than someone who shouts a partline theme all of the time. I think both parties have some things right, and they both have some things wrong.

Mitt out fund raised Obama in the month of may I think the numbers was Mitt $77 million and Obama $60 million. However this is where they both stand right now:

Obama $217,046,169

Romney $97,571,436

So now you know that Mitt isn't beating anyone up with donations does this change your view on the election? Does being mislead by Fox make you wonder if you have all the facts, enough to make a decision?

You pose a good question. I have been on a long political journey to reach the ideology I am following these days. In the current state of politics in the world today what is most important to me is shaping a world in which the common people are in control. Human social structure should be turned on it`s head once and for all. Those who actual produce something should naturally be the ones who are making the decisions. Currently, those who produce nothing, and live off the blood sweat and tears of the producers, are ruling all of us. That has got to change. The entire way we think about politics needs to change. Those with the most capital rule over those with the least amount of capital. It no longer makes logical sense to me anymore. The farmers and the factory workers know more about how to operate the economy and structure society than the privileged capitalist class you have never worked a day in their lives.

It is important to me for the common person to have more control and decision making powers in society.
