Though I sympathise for these kids, they would not be strangers to their own country of origin had their parents not brought them here illegally. So because their parents broke the law, citizens will have to compete with thousands of people who shouldn't have been here to begin with.

I worked in a food processing plant - - near Los Angeles - - during the last Amnesty.

I worked in the office - - including personnel.

Every single person had legal documentation.

When the Amnesty was official - - - only then was it made clear about 90% of the employees were illegal.

I assure you - - - NOT ONE of them ever revealed their illegal status - - - prior to filing for legal Amnesty.

They don't say anything when hired or to the office people. The office find out when they check up on them. the company didn't care anyway and hired them. The illegals themselves when they learn to trust you will indeed tell you their stories.

Thanks I truly appreciate it! It takes courage sometimes to voice ones thoughts and feelings. You have to take the name calling and condescending comments and what-not. I have appreciated many of your posts here at ATS.

Right here is the problem I have, being the daughter of immigrants, and a citizen that can't get healthcare and with children that need healthcare but can't get it, although our tax dollars go to these programs that provide healthcare to illegals.

If anyone is angry over someone else's good fortune...then they have a very deep character flaw within themselves.

It isn't a character flaw to see the lack of fairness to people like me when policies and standards are ignored for political gains. I'm all about standards. But the funny thing is, if you lower and truncate standards then they never really were a standards to beging with.

These kids didn't break the law. Their parents did.

I for one do not believe the sins of the father are the sins of the son.

The fact is the dream act only helps children of illegal immigrants who have worked hard to improve their lives:

"acquired a degree from an institution of higher education in the United States or [have] completed at least 2 years, in good standing, in a program for a bachelor's degree or higher degree in the United States" or have "served in the armed services for at least 2 years and, if discharged, [have] received an honorable discharge".

No matter how you look at it, the kids who meet those qualifications deserve a fair shot.



Edit to add, laws and standards are changing all the time. I don't really feel I need to point out the obvious here, but this country would be a much different place if we never amended our laws or standards. (For example, you wouldn't even have the right to vote)
