USGS now puts it at a 5.8. By they way, the first link you provide above states at top of page "information not finalized" and refers you to USGS.

Looks like Kalunom is correct, It was a 5.8, and other sources point to the USGS for more information.

So what was the value for SHINDO/MERCALLI scale for such event? Because saying just its M6 mean nothing to be honest.

Seems like other earthquakes are referring to the experts at USGS to confirm the magnitude of the earthquakes. Apparently they trust their judgement better than their own...so yes, in this case they are the owner of the truth.

It was a 5.8.
