There is this New Age belief that people just need to be "Optimistic", but religion has been making people optimistic since ancient times and it has
not worked out. Religion tells people that whatever evils are going on here, it is ok, because you will reach the shiny beautiful heaven sometime in
the future. Religion says that everything is OK because "God" is protecting you. When you focus on the good, you can be taken advantage of since you
do not recognize the bad.
The communist governments of the time used to advertise optimism and questioning the government and having your own opinions were consider evil.
People frowned upon the pessimists and optimism was promoted and people were forced to be happy and pretend to be happy and smile. Even Japan is this
way, pretending to smile and be happy when they aren't, and now it has high suicide rates. They are also very controlled by social constructs instead
of being free to be themselves (most of them anyway).
Why isn't there any pessimistic religion? If the world really is controlled by evil like most people think it is, why are so many people believing
that the most popular ideas are true? Such as optimism and The Abrahamic God (Of Bible)?
Most people believe that this world is full of lies and control and yet they stick to popular opinions and even opinions offered by the media, and
corrupted peer reviewed sciences by materialists.
I remember there was a study saying that Denmark was one of the happiest countries and the questioned some of the people there to see how they think
and most were pessimistic; they didn't expect much so they weren't disappointed. I can't find the study now though...
This is true. It is a perspective but it still doesn't change the fact that optimism was and is being used to keep people from seeing the bad going
on in the world and to ignore it.
