Simple question. Why are State and local tax revenues DOWN? If the Private sector is doing as well as Obama blindly thinks?? See what happens when Obama speaks off the cuff!!! Bring in the damage control and the fancy graphs!!

Obama is an out of touch socialist academic who belongs back in the teachers lounge.

Obama really does believe the private sector is doing fine.

It's Socialist Economics 101 - GDP 1.9% is fine.

maybe if the 300 billion in tax breaks given out as part of the stimulus bill, was given back, obama could use that money to help create more jobs....you would think that 300 billion in tax breaks would have created even more jobs as the republican right keeps telling us it will do. kind of shoots that twisted line of thought all to hell.

The only jobs Obama can "create" are public sector/government jobs.

Jobs that require more tax dollars thn any of us has.

Obama better bring back that teleprompter and read the words - word for word -.

He gets in trouble when he speaks without the teleprompter.

You Know What Isn’t #Doing Just Fine? The Average American Family’s Bottom Line.
snip:
In the Age of Obama, the American family is getting hosed, according to a story in the Washington Post.

The net worth of the American family has fallen to its lowest level in two decades, according to government data released Monday, driven by a more than 40 percent drop in their stakes in their homes.

The Federal Reserve’s detailed survey of consumer finances showed families’ median wealth plunged from $126,400 in 2007 to $77,300 in 2010 — a 39 percent decline. That put them on par with median wealth in 1992.

The problem with Weigel's analysis (and Obama's) is the assumption that "public sector employment" is the solution to getting our economy back on track.

Yes, I understand the arguments against Keynseyan economics. I'm not supporting that. I just appreciate Weigel's analysis of this RNC talking point. He's perspective is often a refreshing one from the sane branch of the GOP.

Looking at the graph, I (think I can) understand why The President gave voice to the sentiment that he did. The private sector has climbed out of a real hole. The patient has stabilized.

But the patient is still in a coma. And it sounded like the POTUS was saying, "send him home; he'll be fine."

His comment does betray an outlook, a stance, that the private sector is doing "good enough." And I think that is what the real problem is, beyond opposition talking-points. I know a number of small business owners who have managed to keep afloat, but only barely. One friend has pared his operation from 17 down to 3--his wife and adult child are the other 2. He isn't making ANY profit; just breaking even, and hoping to stay in business to be in the marketplace when things pick up again.... in a couple of years.....

For many in business, hearing the president say that the private sector is doing fine sounded like, "well, that's enough of worrying about THEM! Now let's get back to the business of helping out people who vote for me!"

I don't know how old you are, but it reminded me of the 1992 election, when George Bush 41 couldn't guess about what price a gallon of milk cost. And then later the media "framed" him staring at a laser price scanner in the check-out line of a supermarket, like he'd never seen one--implying that he and his wife never did their own shopping. In truth, the scanner had been rigged to give ludicrously wrong prices, so he'd stare at it. Thus furthering he narrative that he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

Yes, Obama was framed. But there is also an element of truth to the claim that his mis-step betrays his world-view, as much as Bush's mistep 20 years ago also betrayed a different set of alienating prejudices.

Interesting post. But I can't for the life of me get why you are addressing it to me, since I have not argued any of those points you mention.

I'm not arguing for or against your clearly Republican-born partisan talking point. My interest is not in perpetuating the false dichotomy of RvD debate. I'm merely offering some CONTEXT and the insight of one Republican who rejects this meme. If you choose to ignore that in favor of spouting some Republican talking points, that's your choice. But it further solidifies how deeply your own partisanship runs.

You actually responding to what I posted and not some sort of knee-jerk partisan MadLib might warrant a response. But not this partisan tripe you push like a dealer on the corner.

That right there.

You're posts on this thread are saying that anybody who believes "The President has a problem" is a brain-washed Republican 'ginner. That this whole thing is a "meme," and anyone who feels it has validity is an idiot.

You've posted with that oh-so-superior tone to anyone who thinks there is something worth discussing here. And it makes you look exactly like the sort of partisan you are pretending not to be.

You've mentioned several times that quoting a republican (even if he's a RINO) shows how even-handed you are.

I'm saying Obama does have a problem. His misfortunate turn of phrase is one that Clinton would never have allowed himself to utter. The fact that Big O does allow himself to talk that way betrays that he also, at least sometimes, feels that way about the entrepreneurial class.

If it's a problem in now, it will definitely be a problem in November.

No. I'm merely pointing out that this is, word-for-word a GOP talking point. It contains kernels of truth, but the wording, timing, and phrasing is all straight from the head of the RNC.

It's a talking point, just like 'class warfare' or 'abortion'.

You've posted with that oh-so-superior tone to anyone who thinks there is something worth discussing here. And it makes you look exactly like the sort of partisan you are pretending not to be.

Lulz. Being critical of a Republican does not make one a Democrat. Read just a few of my posts or threads, you will see an actual non-partisan.

I don't see Obama making it to November 2012.

The economy is bad and getting worse.

James Carville is the only democrat with his head in reality.

The White House - LeakyGate - and Holder being held in contempt is only

making the situation worse.
--------
BTW, I heard a rumor the SCOTUS will flush ObamaCare down the toilet

June 29, 2012.

- The spiral of despair continues for Obama. -
