This is "Dog Whistle Politics" ----> "Islam the Religion of Peace? I don't think so..."

Dog Whistle Politics was first used in Australia under the Howard government in the 1990s. It was coded language used in political debate to attack target communities. Simply coming out and claiming a group is bad or evil would register you as a racist or a bigot.

The Howard government needed the support of racist elements within the population to win the election so they used coded words and terms to attract them. The use of coded language offered them plausible deniability; for example the Howard government wanted to target immigrants lawfully present in Australia because racists wanted them out of the country. Rather than demanding that immigrants be expelled, the Howard government proposed a citizenship test and played the patriotism card. They won the election with a margin of voters from the extreme right.

Racists, zionists and the Christian right borrow heavily from Dog Whistle Politic use code words to hide blatant and rampaging anti-Muslim sentiment. They talk extensively about how Muslims do not understand the Western “way of life.” That Muslims are "are not like us" and come from a “different background,” or they have “different values”.


Racists, zionists and the Christian ultra right use these coded words and phrases to trigger a belief that Muslim are an alien, unwanted presence, the use of these kinds of terms immediately provokes a subconscious response in those who hear them. To hear racists and bigots use these words makes listeners immediately remember every negative stereotype they have ever associated with Muslims such as, "Islam the Religion of Peace? I don't think so..." .

Don't forget that such comments are accompanied by preposterous assertions like suggestions that Islam is inherently violent while overlooking the fact that is Israel and the US that is plowing through Muslim lands with extraordinary barbarism.

The situation in the United States is far more worrying. Islam baiting has reached a point where the word “Muslim” is an actual insult, much like “Jew” was used in 1930s Weimar. As the word “Muslim” is associated with more negative stereotypes, it is no wonder that eventually people will believe that action is required to be rid of those “filthy Muslims,” turning to those immigrant families that are simply trying to live their lives in dignity and freedom.

The rhetoric has reached a point where any old lie will do. For example, one commenter on ATS writes this outrageous comment laced with code words,

According to the Koran and Hadith, Muhammad, the founder of the religion of 'peace'

The quotation marks is often used to denote irony in Dog Whistle politics and then the commenter proceeds to provides links to distorted and out of context quotations from the Quran and hadith.

Then the same poster pillages more garbage from a hate site and writes;

"The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: If you find anyone doing as Lot's people did, kill the one who does it, and the one to whom it is done." Sunan Abu Dawud (Book #38, Hadith #4447)

You see, in Islam adulterers, sodomites, rapists and the incestuous are cursed by God and the punishment is death. Both the Bible and the Torah stipulate these penalties. While you may not agree religion, to single out Islam only would make you a hypocrite.

Here is what the Bible says of Lot;

Lot and His Daughters

30 Lot and his two daughters left Zoar and settled in the mountains, for he was afraid to stay in Zoar. Maybe the term "Dog whistle politics" was first coined in the 1990s in Australia, but what it describes has been going on since the population grew beyond just one person on Earth.

Everyone is different and people notice said differences. Even more so, when people collectively form groups with other "like minded" folks, these groups will notice other groups differences from their group.

This is not limited to "racist, zionists, and far right Christians..."

Muslims, other-religionists, sexists, blah-blahists, all "groups" practice this.

My advice, is to ignore it.
