Massachusetts Man Catches Fire After Applying Sunscreen

gma.yahoo.com

Brett Sigworth said he applied Banana Boat sunscreen to his body before walking over to his grill, not knowing it would still be flammable after it was on his skin.

This is awful! I had no idea sunscreen was flammable!

Stay away from grills and fires this summer if you're using sunscreen! And especially keep kids safe!

I must commend Mr. Sigworth for not immediately looking to sue. Maybe there is some sanity left in the world. When I first saw this story it was going to be turned into another case like the woman who burnt herself with the Starbucks coffee.

This goes beyond irony...

10 bucks says this person pissed Chuck Norris off.

(My sources tell me Chuck Norris is currently on the sun telling the solar flares to either keep it down, or else.)

Aerosols like Axe cans can be dangerous around sources of heat, it's a mistake not to think that if you can use a deoderant like a flamethrower that sunscreen applied by aerosol wouldn't act in a similar manner. I feel sorry for the guy, but it seems like common sense.

Sounds a bit like he tested the actual flammable LABEL on the sunscreen. It clearly states flammable on the label, and not to use near open flame....IE --- GRILL!!

Sounds also like a lawsuit will become of this one......Premeditated? Not sure, but he will see some money for his second degree burns regardless

ahh it was a spray sunscreen.......don't smoke a light a smoke in the middle of using these spray things that are flammable.

by the way, the lady burned by the coffee was at mcdonalds...and yes everyone knows coffee is hot...but she got 3rd degree burns in her lap......no one expects coffee to be so hot to burn you that badly.

The label should have mentioned that the sunscreen DOES NOT protect Vampires from being affected by direct sunlight!

The Vampire assumption is Obvious considering it was in Massachusetts which alone is not far from Maine. Located in Maine, just 50 miles from Bangor, is a place called Collinsport which is a hotbed for vampires.
And I won't mention the witch activities in and around Salem!

You learn this stuff when you grow up watching old movies and TV series...

It was the vapors from the aerosol it was released from.
One would think this was safe being sprayed outdoors, unless he was in a confined space.

What is rather amusing is how Yahoo news (Op's source) has this listed under "Entertainment"..

Either way, I think sunscreen is just a bad idea in general. Anything that makes it so the body's natural processess are disrupted in such a way cannot be healthy for us.

The Chuck Norris thing was a little funny the first 500 times, but mostly just annoying now after 5000 times.

I was rather hoping this would turn into a Vampire thread, considering all the activity lately on other undead types like Zombies...

That's just awful. Do they mention anything about that on the labeling?

Poor sod. I never realized the stuff can burn either -not that surprising though, given I'm living through yet another, rainy English summer. That's been ironic too -it started near the moment the government declared drought!
