Einstein's Riddle - Can you Solve this

Recently I came across a riddle by Einstein.


Einstein wrote this riddle early during the 19th century. He said 98% of the world could not solve it. Its not hard, you just need to pay attention and be patient.

Can you solve the riddle?

Einstein's Riddle!

There are 5 houses in 5 different colors. In each house lives a person with a different nationality. The 5 owners drink a certain type of beverage, smoke a certain brand of cigar, and keep a certain pet. No owners have the same pet, smoke the same brand of cigar, or drink the same beverage.

The question is: Who owns the fish?

Hints:

The Brit lives in the red house.
The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
The Dane drinks tea.
The green house is on the left of the white house.
The green homeowner drinks coffee.
The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill.
The man living in the center house drinks milk.
The Norwegian lives in the first house.
The man who smokes Blend lives next to the one who keeps cats.
The man who keeps the horse lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill.
The owner who smokes Bluemaster drinks beer.
The German smokes prince.
The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
The man who smokes Blend has a neighbor who drinks water.

Pffft, thats easy. But I won't say the answer and spoil it for others...

It's pretty easy when you write it on paper and do a little deduction.

Maybe it's all the saurkraut and beer I've had today tho.

The zebra puzzle, haha. I remember this from some years ago when I was still in school. I don't think Einstein came up with it though. Wikipedia says that it was first published in 1962, and that there, not surprisingly, are different versions. It also says that the puzzle has been attributed to Carroll, but probably isn't from him either. I used to enjoy puzzles like this, as I used to want to go to law school, and would always spend my free time playing LSAT games. But I changed my mind and went into the air force instead, and then got lazy after I finished with the air force...And now I don't really touch puzzles like this anymore, and don't really want to in all honesty. I agree that it does help to get out a piece of paper and a pen, lol. I couldn't do that in my head, although I'm sure someone, somewhere could do it easily.

Correct there is one question, however, depending on how you interpret "The green house is on the left of the white house. " there are 2 answers.

Einstein is way overrated. There is no such thing as "his" work, but Poincare's, Lorentz's, Maxwell's.
Even his wifes'.
Therefore I do not believe even this riddle has anything to do with him.
Germans had the fish. It was called Schauberger
I am aware he was Austrian, but so was Hitler...

Solved it without even writing anything down and in less then 5 mins, there is only one piece of information in there that is important that's all I have to say. Very Simple

For me everything else was irrelevant but the fish, it could have only one logical location.

this is not even a riddle. it is nothing but a test of reading comprehension and visualisation. everything is told except where the fish belongs for which there is only one available spot for it to go.

I actually worked this out recently. I made charts and organized everything. I ended up going with a trial and error approach when I got to these two possible directions near the end, but I forgot to make note of what I was doing and ended up with the wrong answer. It was fun to work on though.

Actually there are 2. See my post above and think about its wording you will come to understand that it does not specifically state that the house is next door simply to the left, therefore by following the logic from there a second answer appears.

Constraint satisfaction problems, like Sudoku, and this problem, are trivial to solve.

P.S. this problem is not Einstein's.

P.S. Einstein is way overrated.

Did this one in school, and like then I was able to deduce it simply by visualizing the links between in my head.

I still remember raising my hand as the teacher had finished writing it all down on the board.

the only question that really matters is no. 4. it says the green house is on the left of the whitehouse.

but the left of a house, assuming the front of the house is face, would be the right to you when looking head on.

this is where einstein tricks you.
