Nando's - a (Portuguese) grilled chicken fastfood joint from South Africa, has been infamous for their provocative advertising. The past week they
released an new ad, which went viral (well, local anyway) over the social networks and was due to air for the first time on national TV on Friday.
However,
Bit of background: When the Dutch arrived in South Africa in 1652, the Khoi-san people inhabited most of SA. However, the growing european presence
from the south, and the Bantu tribes settling from the north has pushed the remaining KhoiSan into the Kalahari desert.
This is an important political point, because the present government carries out its land-appropriations on the basis that disputed land was inhabited
by their forefathers, but ignores the fact that if this reasoning was taken to its logical conclusion... - hence the ad.
