The company behind one of the world’s most used chemical herbicides has settled a class-action lawsuit in the United States and will pay plaintiffs $105 million to end allegations that they knowingly poisoned drinking water. .

Switzerland’s Syngenta AG has been at the center of a class-action lawsuit because hundreds of community water systems across the United States have allegedly been contaminated by the company’s atrazine weed killer. For decades, communities across the country in at least 45 states have had their water supply contaminated by atrazine and have been forced to spend millions to filter out the poison to allow for same consumption. In a press release put out this week by the lead attorney for the plaintiffs, Korein Tillery LLC, lawyers say that the community water systems affected by Atrazine contamination have impacted more than one-in-six Americans. The $105 million settlement will go towards reimbursing districts that have had to implement their own filtration systems to eliminate the poison and Stephen M. Tillery of the law firm says that upwards of 300 communities with the highest contamination levels will recover 100 percent of their costs

Are you aware the article repeats itself?

Anyway, it good to see somebody own up to the harm they've caused.

On a related note: buy a Berkey or a similar gravity fed filter. You won't have to worry about this crazy world so much. They are expensive, so I made my own.

This is probably a bad thing...

You know mansanto right?

The lesson here is that Mansanto competitors pay, but Mansanto Never does.

And the places affected are JUST now fixing filtration systems? for 100 million?

God you guys are dumb... Sorry but yea.. Iraq war was what 1 trillion plus? 1 trillion is 10,000 times as much as 100 million. 100 million + 100 million + 100 million + 100 million... TEN Thousand times

divided by 50 states = 200 times as much as the total OR 2 billion dollars per state extra if there was no war and we payed the same amount of money. Think of all the clean water we could have...

errg.

This is just Monsanto eliminating competition on their way to controlling your food... The last step in controlling your mind is controlling your food.

Monsanto needs to be exposed before they destroy the world.

This is both good and bad.

I have been talking about Atrazine being a problem for awhile.

It's good to finally see some success from the courts.

But this decision or settlement does not ban them from selling it and limits any future liability.

In a sense they just bought a license to poison people now.

As part of the settlement, Syngenta AG will be denied any further liability regarding human exposure to atrazine. “Settling this case will remove the burden of litigation from Syngenta's partners, customers, retailers, distributors and others who have been inconvenienced by the lawsuit,” the company responds in an official statement this week.

We need to start a similar class action law suit against monsanto.

They not only poison our food supply, but also our water supply.

A lisence to kill indeed.....how can it possibly be reasonable to be allowed to continue doing the same thing thing they were found guilty of, and no one can ever sue them again for any future harm ? Wow....unbelievable, I guess $105 million can buy the ability to become above the law.

How could the lawyers for the pantiffs allow this kind of deal? How could any Judge agree to this? So now what? Sygenta amps up thier "poison" production to recoup thier loss?

$105 mil must be the going price for membership in "The Poisoned Well Club".

Those are probably the cheap seats.
