The rain was falling hard and fast hitting the ground like tiny little liquid bullets. For three days now he had abstained from feeding and the lack
of nourishment was beginning to take its toll. He picked up the pace hoping to get to the safe house before the hunger was too much to bear. It was
inevitable, he would have to feed eventually this was certain, without drinking blood he would die within the next two days but now is not the time he
told himself he would not die until he had personally put a steak through that little bitches heart . She is the only reason he
continued to feed he would not allow himself to die no matter how much he wished for this nightmare to be over . It was no longer the blood that
drove him but Revenge. They say Love is the most powerful of human emotions but this is a fallacy it is in fact revenge. It is true that love can
drive a person to accomplish almost anything however revenge is the unstoppable force to loves immovable object.
He entered the safe house. A mangy apartment on the Upper East Side infested with damp and fungus. For one hundred and forty seven years he had
lived as an immortal. At first he revelled in it, learning the ways of the hunt, the power of compulsion and the enhanced speed and strength where all
amazing gifts until he realised that for all the strengths he had as an immortal vampire it would never be enough to justify an eternity of insatiable
hunger. From his first moment as a vampire he knew he was special, ‘’no ordinary creation’’ were the words Tayla had used when he eventually
managed to get her to open up, she had confided in him all the vampire history and an intriguing story it was.
She told him the origins of the vampire bloodline. It all started in ancient Rome with twin brothers. Draco and Kano their mother died in
childbirth and so with their father away fighting with the legion it fell on their uncle, a merchant to raise them. on their fifteenth birthday the
brothers had decided to join the legion and so before approaching the recruiter they went to the temple of Minerva to offer sacrifice and ask for a
blessing, in the temple the two young men approached the shrine and spoke aloud together in perfect synchronicity ‘’ oh mighty Minerva goddess of
war and wisdom grant us the strength to vanquish our enemies and protect our brothers’’ it was at this point that both the brothers drew their
daggers and stabbed each other in the heart. They were discovered by the high priest and hastily taken away to be burned but before the funeral rites
had been completed both brothers rose on their pyres and disappeared into the night. The story goes
that Draco headed to Bulgaria and it is from him that the Dracula legends were born. Kano headed west to Britton and remained there for many years.
One day while walking in the country side just north of Dover Kano came across a young woman and fed until the girl was near death as he looked upon
her face with the life leaving her eyes he felt something he had not felt in centuries, remorse. without thinking he fed her his blood and snapped
her neck and so Tayla became immortal. Over the years Draco had turned many humans into
vampires and all of them were vile creatures filled with darkness just as their creator was and so all the Vampires that Draco created burned in the
sunlight but Kano he was a whole different kind of monster, a man of Honour cursed by a god, doomed to exist throughout eternity as a colossal cosmic
joke, Kano was a good man who only killed out of necessity and so the vampires he created had no aversion to sunlight their greatest weakness would
be their emotions they would kill indiscriminately and would torture themselves for it. Most of the creations of Kano allowed themselves to die after
a short time because the pain they felt after every kill was unbearable
As he lay huddled in the corner of the damp room he thought on this
for a while. Due to his vampire bloodline originating with Kano he could go out in the sun unlike most of the vampires he knew, the majority were
descendants of Draco whose line was so tainted that even some of the oldest among them could not match him for strength or speed this was his main
advantage. In the modern world their where many vampires but only a minority could equal him and even they were smart enough to fear him and it was
only through fear could he hope to control them and when he had the loyalty of the others he could see to it that Tayla would be no more.
