Most of the victims of the massacre in the Syrian town of Houla were summarily executed, the UN rights body said on Tuesday, amid global outrage over the killings.

"It's believed that under 20 of the 108 killings can be attributed to artillery and tank fire," said Rupert Colville, spokesman for the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

"Most of the rest of the victims in Taldo, one of the areas of Houla, were summarily executed in two separate incidents," he said, ahead of a meeting between UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Local residents have blamed the executions on a paramilitary group that "essentially supports the government forces," Colville said.

Yahoo

Seems as though this story just keeps getting worse and worse... Can you imagine what kind of person it takes to summarily execute children?!?! Its horrible and makes me sick.

I wonder though, if this continuation of the story along with all the other stuff going along with it (the fake photo, the talk of the group who did it being related to al-qaeda...CIA) is just to change your view about letting NATO go into Syria... hahaha who am i kidding, does NATO care about your view at all?! No, if they wanna go in they will and we will have no choice over the matter

Thoughts?!

There has also been reports of using rape against men and women as a weapon! Just terrible!

"In detention facilities rape is clearly used as a form of torture to humiliate and degrade people, and to bring back the wall of fear," said Nadim Khoury, Deputy Director for the Middle East at Human Rights Watch.

Rape as a weapon

I have a thread here about the recent expulsion of Syrian diplomats around the world.

Syrian Diplomats around the world expelled- U.N.

I know it's terrible. I know it's an atrocity.

But I'm having a hard time caring. There's so much idiocy and problems within my own country that I'm unable to do anything about- I find it's best to just keep calm and carry on and keep my family fed, a roof over their heads- and the guns oiled and ready in case atrocity comes to my town.
