He's an incredible creature and at 100 years old, you wonder what must he have seen over the years.

If only he could talk what stories he could share!

That's kinda what I was thinking too.

I don't really care what he has seen, but I would love to know what he's thinking about....

It may not be much at all, but I'd still love to know.

Giant Turtles always remind me that slowing down is the key to a longer life - the faster the living thing relative to it's size the shorter the lifespan?

much love

When male tortoises are doing it, they almost sound humans!

I agree with the previous poster about George looking like a dinosaur. It's great if the specie can really survive.

Wow that's pretty amazing

Don't know what it is about him but he looks kind of like a prehistoric creature spanning from dinosaurs with that neck and head in the second picture.

Maybe they will mate him with another type of tortus. Then they make a half type of him and keep breading until to they have a complete Gerorge again....

[color=29EAFF]R.I.P. Lonesome George

[color=29EAFF]Early this morning, Lonesome George was found dead in his corral at the Tortoise Breeding and Rearing Center in Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz Island, by members of the Galapagos National Park Service.

Possible causes of death of this individual, the sole survivor of the Pinta Island tortoise (Chelonoidis abingdoni), will not be known until after a necropsy. The body of Lonesome George, whose age is unknown but estimated at more than 100 years old, is currently being held in a cold chamber to avoid decomposition prior to a necropsy.
