Honestly I'm tired of the world. America went into Afghanistan and Iraq with the full support of the modern world.
The only reason this crap has taken so long is that America, following the rules of engagement and the Geneva convention ( ), had its hands tied fighting people who did not represent a true military.

Suddenly after we get Saddam and help rebuild Baghdad after shock and awe, we are the bad guys...and we went there just for oil. Yet we are not even Iraq's biggest customer.

SO screw the world, lets just focus on our problems... and don't come calling when you need help.

I think that its more symbolic. That is why it is significant. Another example of the world turning away from America. France are strong allies of America in the past. Europe is going to turn its back on the IMF and on America. You can see it coming.

Uh no. Maybe you missed most of the early 2000s with the US and France ranting at each other over Iraq and yet French and US ties remain close. The newly elected president of France ran on leaving Afganistan by the end of the year. The plan NATO agreed to is 2014. Frances issue will be do they leave early or annoy the US and the rest of Europe whom they signed an agreement with already. Most likely he will offer NATO a deal where France will send more forces to X location so those forces can be sent to Afganistan so that he noth honor his campaign promise and honor NATO commitments.

Does this mean conservatives will start calling them French fries again?

At least their president made good on the promise instantly and did beat around the bush.
