Military Vehicle ID Help

Sorry for the low quality. Saw this driving on H-3 in Hawaii this morning. Just curious, never seen this one before. Anyone know what it is? The turret on top almost looks like an electronics warfare package rather than a cannon (possible they didn't attach the barrel yet for transport??), but the vehicle looks too big to be a scout. It was huge. Slightly bigger than an Abrams I think.

Maybe an engineering vehicle?

I think it's close, but not quite maybe:



The AAVP7 has a low profile turret, just barely rising above the body. This one's turret is elevated. The rear end of both vehicles are different as well.

I think it is amphibious, because of the streamlining on the lower sides. Gotta some kind of AAV I guess.

That would be a USMC LVTP-7. Here is more info.

There is a space between the road wheels and note the wheel count, in the center. Also notice the track skirts, as well as the sloped front. The weapon system should be a key identifier to the vehicle. Those other traits mentioned are also areas of interest for identifying.

After looking it over, it does indeed look like a LVTP7 AAV7A1 variant.

With out applique armor of course.

wondering what are they preparing .. where was it going ?
will it be used on american soil or in Iran ?

Its an AMPHIB all the way, you can tell by the high end on the rear for troop deployment. Probably experimental, but usually they test at Camp LeJeune, NC. Also by the way the turret is pointed, you have the back end pointed towards you. Easier to mask the MM or Inch.

Definitely an aav used for beach assaults.it looks like the RIMPAC exercises are coming up, which center around hawaii with military forces from around the pacific rim. the exercises do include marines storming beaches, so possibly just moving that from base to base or repair shop to base?
