Eglin Air Force Base hangar Foam Party!

Yup, the ceiling-mounted fire suppression system at this Eglin Air Force Base hangar was set off by a welders spark; submerging an A-10 Warthog, an F-16 Viper and an F-15 Eagle sitting inside the massive hangar in foam in a matter of minutes.

Feel sorry for the people who have to clean that up. That looks like it could take days.

What a strange way for the pilots to get their instrument rating, guess it would cut down on fuel cost.

I got to watch as my wife's shop tested their foam fire suppression system at her hangar back in Japan. Holy hell it's amazing how fast that a C130 maintenance hangar will fill up with that stuff...

Didn't stick around to help clean up though. Went to the gym. That's Airman work!

I couldnt stop laughing reading this. And the picture was priceless. Can you imagine how much fun it would be to wander around in that stuff?

I wonder what it did to the engines and delicate equipment on the aircraft?

the damage to the aircraft could be expensive if that is AFFF foam.

if its just soap foam the aircraft are clean.

AFFF is corrosive to metals.

i think they have to pull each one apart piece by piece, i was told its corrosive.
i was also told if it happens you have to get out quick as it removes air,. .

My husband works in hangers everyday. apparently the same thing happened in Darwin a few years back.

I guess this isn't the first, second or third time this has happened!
