If it means he died to eradicate our previous sins, then why since we continue to sin? Did he die to forgive our past sins? If so, does that mean the cup was full and needed emptying, since we have continued to sin? Did he die to halt our sins, if so that did not work.

The life of Jesus was supposedly given in order to forgive all sin.

That is, all sin, past, present, and future...or at least that is what Christian dogmatic rule states.

Basically, all you need to do to accept this 'gift' of forgiveness from God, is acknowledge that Jesus is your saviour, and accept him into you heart, as gideon's likes to put it.

It's hard to buy into, but that's why it's called 'Faith'.

Thats the whole point. Man keeps sinning. We have proven incapable of government and order. This is our big lesson. Plus the fact that are many unseen forces turning desires and ideals into greed and indulgences that we think are innate. People actually think they are GOD.
