Timothy Timlin: "A fifth hijacked plane crashed near Camp David, MD. There is a sixth hijacked plane circling around in Virginia airspace; it is surrounded by our aircraft at this time."
Wes Felter: "I'm hearing rumors that gas prices have doubled and tripled during the day in some places. Has anyone witnessed that?" Wes says: "I didn't understand how they could have collapsed; the buildings didn't look damaged below the crash sites." NPR interviewed a Berkeley engineering professor, he explained what happened. Basically the steel in the top 20 stories got very hot and softened, and collapsed on the lower 90 stories. They couldn't handle that kind of load, so they collapsed too.

I cant find when this was posted, was it on 9/11 or later?
If it was on 9/11 then I’m very impressed how fast they figured out the cause of the collapse without any investigation.
As most of you know, I believe that the United States has gradually, subtly, invisibly to most of us, become a police state over the last 30 years. This morning’s events are roughly equivalent to the Reichstag fire that provided the social opportunity for the Nazi take-over of Germany.
I am *not* suggesting that, like the Nazis, the authoritarian forces in America actually had a direct role in perpetrating this mind-blistering tragedy. (Though their indirect role deserves a much longer discussion.)
Nevertheless, nothing could serve those who believe that American “safety” is more important than American liberty better than something like this. Control freaks will dine on this day for the rest of our lives.
Within a few hours, we will see beginning the most vigorous efforts to end what remains of freedom in America. Those of who are willing to sacrifice a little – largely illusory – safety in order to maintain our faith in the original ideals of America will have to fight for those ideals just as vigorously.
-John Perry Barlow’s Commentary on 9/11/1 as a “Reichstag” pretext for Big Brother
Ten years ago, on the afternoon of September 11, 2001, I sent the text appended below to the BarlowFriendz List. I resend it now, less with the smugness of having told you so — since there was little any of us could have done to prevent what followed — than with a heavy heart over how accurate my prediction proved to be. The answer to terrorism is not fear. Nor is it violence. Nor is it transforming our country in the very ways Al Queda wished, thus betraying everything America stood for and becoming an arbitrarily violent and surveillant nation that routinely tortures perceived enemies and incarcerates them indefinitely without due process.
I had the same question as the above poster regarding planes 5 & 6 from this blog. Strange...
Here the 9/11 commission commits to the breathtaking theory that the FAA reported a not-existing "phantom" flight 93 on its way to Washington. I don't subscribe to this phantom flight theory. This so-called phantom was a real plane, it was the mysterious fifth plane reported by all broadcast media in the morning of 9/11 (only to vanish quickly). It landed in Cleveland, as reported in this email (which is also quoted in Loose Change): I'm sure there was a fifth plane involved that was headed toward Camp David; however, that plane was forced (yes forced, militarily) to land in Cleveland. I thought the target could also have be NASA's Glen/Lewis Research Center that is right next to the Cleveland Airport. The news reported that the plane landed because of a suspected bomb on board but they haven't released anyone that was on that plane.

I did a little digging and to be honest what I found confuses me even more.
There was another supposed plane to be hijacked that day. United Flight 23. However, this plane never took off, and therefore never crashed or was escorted by military personal.

United 93 was reported to have crashed around or at Camp David. I could see the confusion there, especially on 9/11, but this was the 4th hijacked plane..
When researching Camp David and a 5th plane I found a few interesting sources. Things I have never read before.

It is too much to quote, but the last box labeled The Cleveland Free Times investigated the story, too, but found little support. was most beneficial.
That is all I could really find on the topic. Nothing about a 6th hijacked plane that had our aircraft around it at all.
The original quote still irks me.
"There were a number of false reports out there. What was valid? What was a guess? We just didn't know." - Colonel Robert Marr, battle commander at NORAD's Northeast Air Defense Sector on 9/11
UP TO 29 PLANES REPORTED AS HIJACKED Several accounts have indicated the large number of false alarms that occurred on September 11. For example, sometime between the attack on the Pentagon and the crash of Flight 93 in rural Pennsylvania, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) administrator, Jane Garvey, received a call from Leo Mullin, the CEO of Delta Air Lines. Mullin complained: "We can't find four of our planes. Four of our transponders are off." [10] (A transponder is a device that sends an aircraft's identifying information, speed, and altitude to air traffic controllers' radar screens.)
For the neads crew, 9/11 was not a story of four hijacked airplanes, but one of a heated chase after more than a dozen potential hijackings—some real, some phantom—that emerged from the turbulence of misinformation that spiked in the first 100 minutes of the attack and continued well into the afternoon and evening. At one point, in the span of a single mad minute, one hears Nasypany struggling to parse reports of four separate hijackings at once. What emerges from the barrage of what Nasypany dubs "bad poop" flying at his troops from all directions is a picture of remarkable composure. Snap decisions more often than not turn out to be the right ones as commanders kick-start the dormant military machine. It is the fog and friction of war live—the authentic military history of 9/11.
"When they told me there was a hijack, my first reaction was 'Somebody started the exercise early,'" Nasypany later told me. The day's exercise was designed to run a range of scenarios, including a "traditional" simulated hijack in which politically motivated perpetrators commandeer an aircraft, land on a Cuba-like island, and seek asylum. "I actually said out loud, 'The hijack's not supposed to be for another hour,'" Nasypany recalled. (The fact that there was an exercise planned for the same day as the attack factors into several conspiracy theories, though the 9/11 commission dismisses this as coincidence. After plodding through dozens of hours of recordings, so do I.)
