Several military convoys traveling through Kittery, Maine

I live in Kittery, Maine. Today I saw something I have not seen in the almost 3 years I have lived here. Several convoys of military vehicles traveling North on the Route 1 Bypass from I assume Portsmouth, NH going through Kittery. They consisted of a few personnel carriers, many (what appear to be) fuel trucks and various other trucks hauling trailers with wooden crates and a few metal ones. None of them had camouflage but they were tan and or green. This was at around 11:30am May 6 (Eastern Time)

I am aware of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and the US National guard post in Portsmouth. But I never seen this before, and don't recall there being tan vehicles at the command center for the guard. I also found it odd they were traveling on Route 1 and not I-95. Aside from those two military posts in Portsmouth, I am not aware of any close enough to warrant taking a much slower route to where ever they were going.

I wish I had gotten a few pictures. Unfortunately my phone has just a basic camera that can barely take a shot a few feet away.

If anyone lives around this area and knows what this might be for, then I await your replies.

No tanks. But close. The "fuel" trucks were as close to tanks as it got. Interesting note I just recalled: The "fuel" truck tanks had black lettering that said 'explosive(s?)' on the side. The wooden crates were very big. Only one of them per trailer. There were at least two metal crates on the trailers the other trucks were hauling. None of this seemed to be covered by anything. I only noticed one truck with any tarp like cover over them.

I live in Richmond, Va. And I have to be to work super early every day mon-friday. And for the past month there are trains carrying military everything. Ready to go hum-vees,tanks, bulldozers, etc.... I have never seen this many military trains this often. Usually once in a blue moon I would see one. Something is going down lol....

Thank you for the heads up. A convoy that may be of interest to you left New Orleans six weeks ago according to my pledge brother (we're alumni now), who at the time told me the last time one left the area was before the Iraq war. I saw the pre-Iraq convoy myself on the MS Coast.

It consisted of tanks, howitzers, self propelled artillery, etc. He has since seen 3 or 4 smaller rails, all northbound.

Based on his reporting and others, it would not surprise me if there is a mobilization underway for use in Syria or even Iran, as the paint scheme on the NOLA convoy was a desert/light brush warfare scheme

Any chance this is a training exercise? If not, could it be part of an escort getting ready for someone?

I have no idea. Whatever it was, they needed a lot of fuel and a lot of things in wooden and metal crates. I did not see any weaponry. At least none that was visible.

i travel from east coast to west coast on I-10 for few years now. I have only seen a convoy of random military vehicles on a handful of occassions. However..... for past 2 months i have seen nearly one convoy per week heading both east and west on interstate 10. These convoys consist of mainly fuel tankers and personnel carriers..... both new and quite old. And these are not small convoys, they are miles long sometimes. I was able to see the one convoy exiting off interstate 10 in Houston Texas last week. And 2 weeks ago southbound on I-95 in Florida. Its interesting to know this is nationwide and not just along I-10.
