Strange phone call after "suspicious" web browsing...

So, last night I was watching some videos and reading some Wikipedia articles related to conspiracy theories, FEMA, Rex-84, US debt to China, etc.

The pages I spent the most time on are:

www.youtube.com...

finance.uncommonwisdomdaily.com...

Basically, I was trying to find facts and evidence; then from there, form an idea of what the government is plotting and why. Then today, I came home to my friend's house at which we both live. She told me that I got a phone call from a woman in what sounded like maybe her late 30's. The conversation went:

Friend: Hello?
Woman: Hi, is S there?
Friend: No, he's not with me right now.
Woman: And who is this?
Friend: This is his friend B.
Woman: Oh. Okay, thank you. Bye. (Hangs up)

When she told me about the conversation, I thought it may have been one of many places I called about employment before I found my job. So I called the number back, and all I got was, "Your call cannot completed. Please check the number and dial again." and then, "...message sent to TX 08 MN." No results for that code on Google, so I don't know if the number was somehow promptly disconnected, or if they blocked my number from calling back. I figured it was some kind of phone spam, telemarking, something along those lines. But I decided to Google the number. It was from the town of Mckinney, a town approximately 30 minutes North of Dallas, where I live. It was listed as a company called "Information Providers, Inc." Their website seemed to confirm that the call was part of some kind of statistical research, but it still seemed a little creepy.

www.useipi.com... is their website URL.

I visited it, and as it listed their services, it did seem legitimate. However, once I went to 'About' and then 'Web Links' I noticed at the top of the list, a link to a list of Fed agencies. The site itself doesn't specify what this list is for. I'd guess its links to who they mainly serve, considering the links to numerous different related companies. Regardless, the Fed list says:

Library of Congress-Thomas Legislative Information
Federal Register
United States Senate
United States House of Representatives

Still, I don't want to just assume I've been put on some kind of watch list or something like that. But considering the coincidences and the very... generic feel of the site and the information presented there, I can't help but to wonder what the ATS community's opinions are and if they've received any similar calls or even some from the same company.

You're not on any list.If what you say is true I'm betting you entered a phone number on a website and that's why they called you.Happened to me before.Don't be so paranoid.

Looking at the site and all attached sites and referred to sites, other than the senate and house links, it seems to be all about insurance. Perhaps in the recent past you have looked into something to do with insurance of some kind, and the timing of the call was coincidental?

I am not ruling out the idea of what you are asking about, since we all know that things are rarely what they seem where the government is involved, but it is possibly just about an insurance inquiry of some kind.

If you have a landline, that number is registered and available to purchase by all manner of agencies and people. That is why cold-calling happens. Even X-Directory numbers. I presume also, that if you have a combined telephone and broadband package, such as BT or Virgin, that they can link your Google use to that for tele-marketing purposes. It is one of the reasons that I don't have a land-line, not because I am afraid of being tracked, but because I don't like having to be rude when they pester me over the phone. I have no such problem only having a mobile phone. I still get spam emails which try to market stuff to me based on my Google searches, once even got offered a job by China Oil (or so they claimed), but I can just hit delete in those cases and don't have to be polite to some person just trying to scratch a living.

But either way, it is much more likely that it is someone trying to sell you stuff, than it is someone trying to pinpoint where you are, that is easy and they don't need to alert you to the fact if that is their only intention. If you think about it, if they are watching you, why would they let you know that they are? Silly really, don't you think?

No land line for about five years. Mobile phone and dongle for internet.
