rare landspout in france

i did a search and this didnt come up as previously posted... thought this was pretty cool.
its not a tornado... its a land spout. apparently two very different things.

Both landspouts and waterspouts are classified as tornadoes since they are defined by an intensely rotating column of air in contact with both the surface and a cumuliform cloud.

I've always thought of a land or water spout as a tornado, not visibly connected to the storm cloud which produced it.
Awesome picture though. I've never heard of tornadoes in France. Pretty crazy stuff....S+F

Yes, they are very rare and usually EF-0, EF-1 and very rarely EF-2.

Boy, technology at it's finest. An alien mother ship harvesting grains. I suppose they like bread once in a while. They could cause a tornado to hit a bakery and wouldn't need to bake their bread.

if it moved cars and uprooted trees it seems like a tornado to me.

so i looked up landspout and they are also called "dust tube tornadoes" and are not associated with a mesocyclone.... but have cause F3 damage before.... and are technically tornadoes.

What's wrong with "dust devil" or "whirlwind"? Not all that rare though it takes a big one to do much damage.
